1974 Bob Jackson

At first I was looking to trade this bike but nothing grabbed me and I really should thin the herd. I used it as my commuter bike for a few years but i have since built up a better sized bike. So, anyone want to help me take a stab at pricing this one? I love this frame but it is just a bit too small for me. The frame is a 58x57 1974 Bob Jackson in well loved shape (read: well used) and the paint shows it. Built with 531 tubing and campy drops. The ride is awesome. It has plenty of clearance for 28mm tires and probably more. Fender room too. Has fender and rack brazes (I'm keeping the rack) I use this as my commuter bike. This won't be easy to let go but I would like someone else to ride it.

Guy Gadois

Campy bar ends in RED
specialized flag crank
sun tour Cyclone II RD and FD
Campy NR hubs laced to Mavic
Cane Creek levers
stronglight Hinault headset
Royal Grande Comp brakes
Deda anatomic bars
Keeping pedals and rack

The last Bob Jackson inquiry I saw was launched by toosahn maybe a month ago - should be easy to find by going to his BF page and calling up the threads he started. The Jackson he was asking about was similar vintage, similar condition, also an eclectic mix of components (although you have more Campy on this one). Yours is in the "sweet spot" for sizing while toosahn's was bigger (62cm or so), so yours has something of a price advantage, from a seller's standpoint.

Jacksons of that vintage had more than their share of bottom bracket threading problems (as I know from personalo experience). How is the BB shell on yours? What bottom bracket are you running?

FWIW, The opinions in toosahn's thread ranged from $350 to $700, as I recall.

Pretty bike. As you'll see in toosahn's thread, I have somethng of a soft spot in my heart for Jacksons of that vintage.

I paid $700 for my 74ish Bob Jackson with full campy/cinelli that has very few visible marks on the frame. I do need to take a few of the components off and give them a good going over (some rust spots). Compared to what I paid (considering the size--57cm, components and condition) I think the toosahn bike was way overpriced at $700…but, maybe I just got a good deal. That bike was a very nice shade of green though. I really have no idea what the Bob Jackson frame market is like. You can usually find one or two on ebay at any given time, but that is it.
