mixte on okc cl
Seller wanting "150 FIRM" Jeunet-unknown year. Can anyone confirm if the frame is 531 or hi-ten? Prices have skyrocketed here. Here are the naturally non drive side photo's. I've never seen one of these. It does have a cottered crank. Worth the asking price?

Not worth the price. At best, it has 531 main tubes, but I doubt it. Looks all high ten steel to me, in mediocre to poor condition. Also has bent fork. Even if main frame is 531, with that condition, I would pass. Rims look to be steel. If so, it would be less likely that it has a high end frame. It also has bottom end plastic Simplex FD. Another sign of low end.
The only thing I like on that bike is the pump.

My best guess would be high tensile steel. The bike looks much like this old Jeunet that I found a few years ago. Lovely bicycle and pretty nice ride, however; being to small for me, I am not really qualified to comment on ride quality...

Hi-ten (maybe chromoly?), but one of the nicer low-budget frames from the 70s. Definitely not 531.
Do a search for "Jeunet Franche-Comte" and you will find lots of info. I have never seen one in mixte form but a few in standard men's models. Based on the very rough condition I would not pay $150. If it was nice, sure. But in that shape I'd be looking at $50 max.

Ok-I have perused the web-but could not find any info regarding the full chrome fork as being a clue to the frame quality. Its a 22" also. I don't gather the seller knows much about it. They say "it will clean up well"-haha. Don't want to offer less on a FIRM-it would just insult. Randy-that bike is in nearly perfect shape! Woo woo!

All the Franche-Comtes I have seen (in person) have had the full chrome forks. More info here: https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...ghlight=jeunet

I read that one-that particular bike also had forged drops-did any 'gaspipe' frames do forged drops? I was under the impression not.

It would probably be worth 150 in a good market if it were cleaned up with good tires and ready to ride. I don't know your bike market but even in a really good one I think that is too much for it in that shape. This bike needs tires, bar tape, and a seriously thorough scrub down - and that's just to get it shakily road ready. Based on it's condition I'd venture to be in decent reliable shape it will additionally need all new cables and housings and new brake pads. Further, to be in "good" shape it would probably need bearings cleaned and regreased and a new chain. Even then it will be a heavy bike with steel wheels and you'd be into it far enough that you could have gotten something much better and ready to ride in the first place.
