Help Identifying Frame 1/2
6 Attachment(s)
I bought a couple of frames for the cheap from an old guy who restores bicycles as a hobby. I wanted to try my hand on these frames and pick up some skill and knowledge before I started dumping money on more expensive builds. Here are the pictures for the first frame. I intend to build a beefy tourer out of this.
The decals/manufacturer logo was not present. There were signs of them existing though. It had a DIN sticker attached to it, with the German "Kontroller No" on the base, I am assuming a European origin. Please let me know if you need more pictures of the frame. |
I was thinking it was a Maxwell Smart bike, but his Kontrol No. was 86.

Whatever it is, it is a very, very low-end frame. If you're going to go to some trouble to build up a bike, I would not use this frame. The Schwinn is a better starting point.

I am far from an expert (see signature) but that one looks like scrap metal. The problem with not wanting to start with a nicer frame is the components cost the same, and usually more than the whole bike, so building a junk frame is a money loosing proposition. What you want to do is REbuild a nice bike.

Wow, @Hummer
That was a great find. I think its the same bike going from the head tube lug shape. I still have the frame as it is. It looks too bad to build it back up. Thank you. |
