Should I pay 200$ for this bike?
I don't know much about bikes, but I'm looking into buying my first one. I came across this one on Craiglist Raleigh Super Record Bicycle Single Speed Coversion Bike But I don't know if It's worth 200$, help. Sorry if I posted this to the wrong category, I'm new here.
Thank You.
Thank You.

Bike needs some work, as a newbie I doubt that you have to ability to pull this apart and clean and grease everything, rewrap the bars, replace the cables. Not a good learner bike, and it would be $75 or so to have a shop do this. Also, the condition of the wheels in unknown, and its a replacement front wheel I think.

Low end bike, zero effort single speed conversion, and no bar wrap. I'd put value at maybe $50, but that may be being a bit generous. Seller is dreaming if he thinks that's worth $200.

You gonna eat that?
My first thought was that yeah it's a good deal, but then as Pat said, that's not really a single speed "conversion". It's taking off the derailleurs and putting the chain on one of the rear cogs without putting a proper single speed freewheel on it. And the Record was at the bottom of the Raleigh heap.
Also, that's a bike for a person over 6 feet tall. If you're shorter than that, fuggetabout it.

Still learning
Gee, another overpriced neglected bike from Brooklyn. What a unique concept. \
Keep looking, you can do far better.

If you want a SS/fixed grear dig up a used Kilo TT. Don't waste time on "conversions".

No no no no no and no. People think because of steel frames with lugs means money. I spend more time laughing at listing like this then ever contacting ad posters.
