Would anyone please be kind enough to give me their appraisal on this one? looks like a half way decent set up - QR front and rear, Shimano SIS rear mech?

That is the bike Tony the tiger rode to victory in the '88 edition of the famous British "Milk Race"
Looks like a decent basic bike to me. The rubber covers stuck on the shifters look a little cheesy though. I suspect Raleigh had some sponsorship deal (maybe through Huffy?) for a race/tour of some type and these were basic replica bikes for advertising.

Thanks BG, you are a veritable fount of knowledge. I quite like the look of this but seller is wanting a start price at auction of £75, what do you reckon?

If you're looking for a basic 80s bike, it's fine. It's probably worth around $150-175 USD in my area, maybe as much as $200 if marketed well. I have no idea what it's worth across the pond.
