70s Ladies Schwinn World Tourist 5 Speed
Hi everyone - I was going to buy a 70s Schwinn World tourist, as I really like the look of it and it sounds like it would work to get to class (about a 15 minute walk). I've read another thread saying the 80s models are great. Is this true for the 70s models as well? The seller says it has brand new white wall tires and tubes that have never been ridden on. The picture looks like it's in great shape and the price seemed okay. Can anyone give me a little more information? This will be the first bike I've bought so I want to make sure I'm not getting something lousy!
Thanks!
Thanks!

I don't believe the World Tourist was available in the 1970s. The early models have a plain straight gauge (18 ga.) AISI 1020 carbon steel frame and was near the bottom of the Schwinn model line-up. I wouldn't spend more than $50 or $75 on one. Some markets command higher prices, but even in one of those markets $100 would be tops even if it's in great shape and ready to ride.

The ad was mislabeled -I was able to determine (with some help) that it's one of the 80s models, not sure what year exactly. It seems to be in pretty good shape, but the price is definitely a little high it sounds like ($145). I'm going to keep looking for now I think. Thanks for all the help!
