NOS Suntour Superbe Pro 8 speed Groupset w/ wheels
Bought a bike for the frame (Italian so will be Campy) and it came with a NOS Suntour Superbe 8 speed 130mm Groupset that was builtup and hung on the wall! I don't think it was even tuned. No usage marks on anything, rims, brake pads, chain wheel, cassette. The hoods are dry and I suspect may need to be replaced soon. Has original factory grease visible, the cassette still has the bright yellow factory Suntour sticker on the large cog and an interesting lined rear brake cable that fits nicely in the housing. Chain is not in this photo but is also included. Handling marks are all there is and they are absolute minimum. I have looked locally for a Campy trade but nothing has come up. What is this set worth? I can post large photos if that helps but it is all new.

It's probably worth similar dollars as campy chorus/da 7400, but with a smaller market. I had a hard time finding all of the parts when I was looking for it...but it seemed like many of the sellers were just sitting on stuff that wouldn't sell. Finding trades is tough.
I'd be quite interested, but I tend to hold my campy.

hi what does NOS mean. where ARE YOU LOCATED, and do you think it will work with an old specialized ALLEZ EPIC. caps ninja means i can't type worth a crap.
if it would fit i'd pay 300$ for that stuff. i always preferred superbe pro instead of shimano dura ace.
i had a schwinn peleton with superbe pro stolen many years ago. grrr

I would love that but don't really have a nice enough CampI group to trade.
What is the BB threading? Can you post a good pic of the hoods? I think they are scarcer than Cobalto gems so if they need replace that can be a headache.

I suspect the bottom bracket threading is Italian so you will need an English one or at least English cups. Figure $50-100 more than the cost of the group.

NOS means New Old Stock ie the stuff is from the '80s but never used. I think technically this group may be considered a 'take off' meaning it was mounted but never actually used.

Bottom brackets (BB) shells and bottom brackets come in different sizes, mostly based on country of origin. There used to be several but since the mid '80s or so Italian and English are the most common. Usually most bike built in Italy have an Italian threaded BB shell 36x24 TPI and 70mm width. Most other bikes, English, Japanese, US etc use English bottom bracket shell 1.37x24 and 68mm wide.
The OP's bike is Italian so I am assuming it has an Italian BB shell so his Suntour BB will not fit in your Specialized frame which is English.

Hi BG,
thank you very much. u even explained it so i could easily understand it. i used to be very fast with comprehension like a computer, now my speed is woefully slow sometimes.

so other than the bottom bracket all the other components that come off an italian built bike will usually fit my epic ? is that correct ?

These parts are like-new take-offs.
Again, I'm sorry, but stuff like this is basically a knee jerk reaction for me now after seeing and endless amount of stuff for sale with the words "mint" and "like-new" used completely the wrong way.

No it is I who needs to apologize as you are correct, rest assured if I ever list these anywhere they will be new take-off. Further I would also add that I would expect a NOS to have the all paper work and some may say the original packaging.
And yes the BB is Italian.

Forgot to add $300 is not even close, if no one needs a group for a project I will regrettably go to the auction site and get more than twice that parted out.

tell me what is close, and make it verifiable while your at it. i tossed that figure out because i had no clue/barometer as to value of such an old group. even in that condition. thx. look forward to hearing from you.
so far as parting it out. i may not be a bike parts expert, but i do know even though that's possible to do onoe wants the hassle of parting something out most of the time. the quick sale as a group is the whole reason it's listed as a group. I'm not a brand nubian to most sales practices at all.
easyupbug can you please post close ups of that gear please. thx.
