Early 60's Legnano.frame and fork, HS, BB

For sale from Cleveland, OH, 44111
Payment: PayPal f/f
Price: 100$ plus shipping SOLD

As you see, a lot of rust, a little chrome left.
It takes 700C wheels, I still have them. It was a 4 speed.
The frame is 22 1/2" from center of crankset to top of seat tube and 21 1/2" top tube (C-C).

Condorino!

The seat post binder bolt and the headset are nice things to have.

If there are any crusty bits off this machine that need a home let me know.

-----

shape of drive side dropout appears to be the same as the Juy model Competition Nr. 934 -

OEM gear ensemble likely to have been Juy of Italy

cycle appears to date from time when Juy Italy plant was in operation

I don't remember seeing this type of chain guard bracket before. Interesting...

Those look different (besides being shiny).
The ends are not formed the same.
And either that's a solid covering of dirt, or they are brazed-on.

You are buying this frame for $100 and you are going to worry the chainguard bracket isn't an exact match?

Like I wrote, lots on ebay.it besides the random one I pictured. Search "carter legnano" and pick the one that floats your boat.

Dirt, not brazed. Bracket is under the fixed cup.

No, I have no interest in this Legnano; I already got one, but if I did not I'd be in for that $100, even with the bad rear.

This one look to be the 2nd-from-the-top level of frame - no slot in the seatlug.

My theoretical worry about a bracket being brazed on is that I'd have to remove it, I ride a boy's bike.

(Dirt's no bother, and thanks for the new search term.)

Looking at the catalogs from the 50s/60s, and I could certainly be wrong, but the difference I see between there Sport models is how they are setup, with not a difference in frame. Using a Gran Sport RD versus a Sport RD, 5-speed rear versus 4-speed rear, etc. Funny thing is, the "lower" tier components are more difficult to get today.

And in addition to "carter", try "paracatena" and "copricatena" for chainguard. The only conversational Italian I know is in bike parts.

This bike had a Campagnolo Sport, rear derailleur, 4 speed and flat bars with the brake levers on the bars, not clamped
