SOLD: TST/Sandvik Titanium Frame and Fork 56cm

SOLD SOLD SOLD Circa 2001-2002 this "Cipressa" frame was built by TST, the titanium fabricators for the Hanford Nuclear Facility, so you know the welds are good! Note the distinctive TST 'Bullet' dropouts. The tubing is Sandvik aerospace grade, the best available. Tubes are double butted, and ovalized for your riding comfort (blush). Weight 3lb 8.4 oz 1.6 kg. Comes with Time carbon fork, steel steerer, 238mm (clears a 28mm tire). TST also built frames on order for a number of different foreign and domestic customers such as Bontrager Ti Lite, Kona Hei Hei & King Kahuna, Dean, Diamondback Axis TT, Fuji, GT Lightning, Silverton, Marin Team Issue, LeMond such as the Tete de Course.and Yeti Ti Road. Yeh, yeh, it's labeled 'Mongoose', but this is pre WalMart so get over it! Besides, really makes heads turn at the coffee shops. Or, just remove the decals. It ain't the label... Rides really nice, but I just got my grail bike, Serotta Legend, so several of my bikes are going.

A comment from the Sandvik Manager at the time: "For what it's worth, I can add a bit of insite into that frame material. I used be the North American manager for Sandvik through the 1990's, although I ran a different division (I was in Strip Steel line). I can assure you that the Ti tubing used in the sports division was as good as you can get. You see, the plant was in Kennewick, Wa. because they serviced the nuclear industry there. They needed something to do with the small remnants of left over tubing, so they started the sports division, making bike frames, golf club shafts, and hockey stick shafts (which they had to stop for player safety-they were TOO indestructible). As the tubes were designed originally to carry nuclear waste and other harsh stuff for infinite periods of time, you can assume that you will never have an issue with corrosion or material breakdown of any kind."

Very tempting just to say I have the sweetest Mongoose in town.

Does the frame have similar tire clearance to the fork?

I was running a 30mm in there, both Pirelli and GP 5000 on DT Swiss 17mm inner rims. It's a tad tight at the brake boss reinforcing nubbin, the little 1/2" x 1/2" thing, 1-2 mm clearance, but you can either ignore it as I did, or (shudder, I've seen others do this) grind a mm or two away from the bottom of the boss. I never had any issues, but your tires may vary.
