WTB: Various items for projects
.
For the two winter projects for my wife’s relatives-in-law, I have them broken down and largely (ugh) inventoried, and I see the need to source a few things. What do you have? I doubt any one member has it all, to save on shipping, but you never know. I figure I’ll find yet more needs, but for now...
For 1973 Gitane:
(a)Handlebars — aluminum, this fits a Pivo stem; despite what my 1974 Sutherland’s tells be about French bars, the old steel ones removed measure 25.4mm at the center. Standard (?) drop pattern, rider is tall but I’d say not super wide in shoulders, 40cm or 42cm would be fine. SOURCED
(b) Freewheel — 13T or 14T small cog, 30T large cog (I’m wagering that the Suntour V-T Luxe on the bike, medium-length cage, will get there). Looking for ’nice’ condition but don’t need Dura-Ace quality. English thread.
(c) Brake Hangers — I’d like a pair like the photo below, this poor bike has no QR on calipers, hangers or levers? Sheesh. If not Weinmann, I guess Dia-Compe look identical?
(d)Toe straps — I’d like NOS or at least nice. As I talked him into a red/white/blue Tricolor Flag trim scheme, that’s three color choices. SOURCED
For 1974 Atala:
(e)Women’s saddle — Like it says on the label. Woman rider, bike had a frightfully narrow plastic “perch”, not sure I can call it a saddle. Preferably not with a lot of visible wear/tears. I got a Campagnolo seat post from a forum member, so rail spacing for that. SOURCED
(f) Freewheel — 13T or 14T small cog, 32T to 34T large cog. Looking for ’nice’ condition but don’t need Dura-Ace quality. English thread.SOURCED
(g)Brake straddle yokes — Weinmann aluminum. I didn’t even know that made such a thing as steel yokes, unbranded and unchromed, ugh. Want aluminum. SOURCED

I do believe I have the wide range freewheel with the 34 tooth max cog that you're after and planned to include it in my parts listing update this weekend. When I get home from the office here I'll provide the details and photos I took.

Thanks, all; probably a bit early, curious to see what else surfaces, but...
I can wait a bit. Sounds promising.
Both look good to me, and perhaps both would nest well in one box? The two biggest items, in terms of size, that I am shopping for.
Seems just right.

I will check today or tomorrow how much should be the shipping for both items.
Just in case you'll want them.

I'll get the freewheel out of storage tomorrow. Shipping from California will be $10 for $30 total. PM if you're interested and I'll send you my Paypal info again (I do believe we've done business before). Cheers!

Also since it's for a Gitane I'm guessing it's important that the front hanger has the "flat" in the round fork-steerer hole rather than one with a "tab", correct? (or would you be fine with a tabbed version and just grind it off?)

I might have a pair of hangers (or maybe just one) like these but chances are high that the chrome will NOT look so nice so you might want to wait and see if somebody else has better-looking ones.

I found a few likely suspects in shorter time than expected (can take pix if you're interested, just PM me)
for the front I have a Shimano (surprise?!) unit with round hole (not a flat nor a tab) that has rough chrome but mainly only on the QR mech. So not pretty but otherwise fully functional.
for the rear there are two options, both have 'issues": a genuine Weinmann (at least that's what the QR mech says) with the actual adjust-barrel missing, it's very much a match to the one in the pic, but have nothing like that barrel in my stash o' spares (needs approx. 6mm OD) chrome is mainly okay-ish, and has a pinch bolt.
OR an unbranded one that's the "keystone shape" and has a working QR mech, but this unit does not have any threaded adjustment, takes a regular ferrule for the cable housing but provides about 10mm of "travel" between "open and closed", chrome is also "okay" but needs a pinch bolt (I can probably find but haven't gotten to that area of my stash.
LMK what you think...

Thanks for getting back to me! Uh, w/out photos and just the description, I think I'll keep hoping for "better" hangers to surface, here or eBay or whatever. I'm trying to avoid saying your offer is, ahem, unworthy...

BTW I was thinking of them being "free, but for cost of shipping" so that might beat anything on eBay, at least price-wise

Pix of the cable hangers i have at the moment:

all this rust at NO extra cost!

the Weinmann needs a "barrel" and that bolt on the "keystone shaped" is from a Schwinn, so I would swap it for another more generic bolt
