Show me your Olmo
There are "Show Me" and 'appreciation' threads for other brands and models. I don't see or hear much about Olmo's here on BikeForums or anywhere else. I regularly encounter other riders that have not ever heard of Olmo.
My Olmo rides as nice as any Colnago or Rossin that I have ridden, or any other bike for that matter. My Olmo is not true or pure C&V but hopefully no one will hold it against me.

Spring/summer-2014:
Rear deraileur: Shimano Exage 400EX;
System: Shimano Biopace 52/42, cranks FC1055 170 mm;
Cassette: Shimano HG20 13-23 7-speed;
Front deraileur: Sachs;
Hubs: Shimano Exage;
Brakes: Shimano Exage;
Levers: Shimano Exage;
Stem: Italmanubri Eclypse 130 mm;
Headset: Shimano 105;
Seatpost: Kalloy;
DT shifters: Shimano Exage 7 speed;
Bartape: foam rubber grips (came as purchased), I changed them to proper BBB bartape pretty much quickly;
Tyres: Silver Arrow Duro 700x20c (POS! They feature steel cord which made me recall every insult I knew, almost impossible to mount on the rim).
Fall/winter-2014:
Tyres: Maxxis Re-Fuse 700x23c (don't mind non-matching color, these blue were only available at the time of purchase, soon I'll change 'em to something right-looking (black or black with green sidewalls), however the tyre itself is very good: reliable, bombproof and it has good traction when you take the shower from the sky).
Two days ago I changed the wheelset to Mavic Open 4 CD with Shimano 600 HB-6400 hubs, new cassette, new KMC chain, so I'll take new photos soon.

Nothing special,
but I love it because of its' history: my uncle's 85 and gave it to me,
I did a quick clean, new saddle, tires and bar tape and that's it.
Not much info about it, there's only an imprint of "53" to be found,
I guess that's the frame size.
I love riding it,
will be doing my first triathlon with this one :-D

It's been over 2 years since a new ride appeared on this thread. Clearly not enough Olmo love on BF!
Finally finished my 1985-1987 (as near as I can tell) Olmo San Remo. My first Italian and naturally I lived in bottom bracket he!! for some time while I found a workable combination with the oddball SR Suntour crankset. It currently sits with a chainline at ~40mm which is pretty narrow so we'll see.
Sure looks good in the pics but at 10 ft you can see the generous amount of touch up paint that for some reason has a greenish hue to it. I just can't let anyone get too close!
Columbus Cromor tubing and Suntour Superbe bits comes at 21.7 lbs as pictured. Better than I expected with a 57cm ctc frame.

Olmo Gran Sport 1960 (?)
Olmo Gran Sport from right around 1960. That's the date on the record hub cones which may or may not be the date of the bike but the other parts on the bike point to an early 60s dating (gran sport derailleurs, etc.). Virtually all the parts on the bike are original. The saddle is not (it's a brooks pro), I changed the bar and stem out because the stem was too short but I'll change that back, and the wheels (ambrosio clincher rims and record hubs) date from the late 60s but they're not the original tubulars. The bike has falck tubing, campy drop outs, magistroni crank, sheffield sprint pedals, Weinmann 999 center pulls. The bike is in excellent cosmetic (all original decals) and mechanical shape (all the bearing surfaces are smooth). The bike has old school half step gearing (which is pretty useful when you have only 5 on the back), with a 49/46 upfront and a 13-26 on the rear. This was a heck of a CL find last year, : )

I bought my '82 Competition back in 1997. It's got a healthy patina to it, but still looks decent (don't get too close, though). It's been a very good bike for me. The frame seems stiffer than some of my other vintage bikes, and I've wondered what sort of Columbus tubing it has. Presumably it is SP, since it's a large frame?
Anyway, here are some photos of the '82 Olmo Competition:
a shot of the pantographed cranks and chainrings. The crank has been lightened and slimmed down, which I believe is referred to as "the Mexico treatment". Not sure where this term/phrase originated. A reference to how Eddy's bike was lightened for the hour record in Mexico city??
the pantographed brake calipers.....
the seatpost, rear of seat tube, and rear brakes...
the pantographed shift levers...
the pantographed stem.....
I do need to take a photo showing the pantographed brake levers sometime.
and in conclusion, an action shot!

The bike did not come directly from Italy but was sold by a bike shop, Valley Cyclery in Van Nuys.
This is the "find" and "build" thread, post 36 has a pic of the bike shop that sold the bike!
