So I have had a couple of Hi Ten 10spds that I let go that I regret selling 1 was a Centurion Lemans the second and probably most missed is a Healing 12 speed(Healing were a major cycle manufacturer for NZ) these bikes were nothing special but they were bikes I was at the time not too worried about and saw them as more robust than the 531 Claude Butler I had, something I did not need to worry about, so I treated these bikes a bit rougher going from road to footpath without lifting off the saddle etc.

Anyone a thread for junkers gone and the regret?

Sort of regret moving both of these on . The Carlton as it would be fun to have an old english in the stable . The fold up was so quirky and fun .

One of my first 10 speeds was a dark brown healing 10 speed which was as heavy as sin but solid as rock .
Ahhhhh those were the days . Makes my thighs ache just thinking about it !

My healing was a Black GTX, in pretty mint condition, mint. I have a photo that is 2 years old that I can not seem to compress, it was taken 3 cameras ago.
I also just did a (cough) single speed conversion on an early Worldrider Elite, that was a little too big like the Centurion so off it went, it did ride very nicely indeed.

I have probably 8-10 bikes I have acquired for $20-$50, plus consumables, that I hang onto, but need to thin the herd. These include mtb, 3 speed, hybrids.

i picked up a follis frame for 50 bucks and a built it up as a single speed with spares on hand. really came out nice. i rode it a few times not really thinking much of it. Ended up selling it to a college kid who was in love with it.

now i kinda wished i had held on it o it and made it more of a better suited single speed..

12-speed hybrid hub -- 14-16-18-20 Cyclo cog cluster on Sturmey Archer AW 3-speed IGH. Use the bottom 3 cogs in low, all 4 in middle, and the top 3 cogs in high for a nice 10-speed progression. With 26" wheels and a 40T chainring, perfect 39 to 99 inch gear range.

No junkers and no regrets!

Not a road junker but I bought an alloy geared beach cruiser that I ended up painting and making into a MTN bike before I restored it and sold it. I immediately regretted selling it. Such a cool looking (at least to me) mountian bike and it actually felt good to ride.

Sometimes I regret not holding onto this tiny Gitane mixte for my daughter to grow into. She was just a toddler when I sold it. How quick they grow!

I forget my sold bikes as soon as they're gone.

A fellow followed me home, one day, and offered to purchase my Specialized Junker II. His offer was fair, so I let the bike go. I would by it back in a heartbeat, if offered the opportunity to do so...



The same thing happened with my Peugeot, entry level Canadian made bike. Different guy, of course...

What is this 'selling' of which you speak?? That goes against the 'N+1' rule.

I've only sold one bike in my entire life - waaaay back in late 1976 - and that was to facilitate an upgrade from '74 Fuji 'Special Tourer' (all-steel components) to the '75 S-10S (all alloy) that I still ride today.

Ditto. If you don't buy junkers, there are no regrets when you don't sell them.
