Says it all! Geraldine and I caught him at the top of the hill, sucked his wheel on the downgrade, pulled alongside on the flat, chatted a bit, I pulled ahead so he could draft me, thought I heard some gear changing about a mile and a few hills down the road, and at the next intersection, when I checked for traffic, he weren't there no more.
Don't know what he was riding - it was white, had oddly bent rear stays, so it was clearly carbon. He had no gray hair, some sort of team jersey - quite spiffy.

Says it all! Geraldine and I caught this one just over the top of the hill. He also had no gray hair, some sort of team jersey - again, quite spiffy, and a TREK with a fat down tube. Geraldine had a big all the way home.
