Need Help Identifying a Bottecchia
I've been out of cycling for too long and am going to restore a Bottecchia I just bought on eBay from a dealer in Italy. From the Head Badge, most likely mid 1970's. The parts appear to be original to the frame and are Campagnolo Nuovo Gran Sport, stem and handlebar 3ttt.
The frame appears to be upper end on the Bottecchia food chain as it has braze on for the shift levers, brake cables, dérailleur cables, etc. Decent lug work and possibly Campy dropouts.
Here's a link to it:

Please help me ID it as I believe it wasn't an export model.

More details...
Ofmega headset
Gipiemme dropouts, crankset, pedals
Zeus 2001 brake set w/Weimann hoods and levers
Suntour cassette/freewheel
Nisi Moncaliere/Countach Rims
Decals...
Campione Mondo 1966
Campione 1964-1965-1966-1967
Hope this helps ID it. No doubt the cassette, brakes are non-original.

I have a 73 Giro D'italia. This vintage, the difference between the top and next level was the stuff they hung on the frame and fork. Both were chrome plated with a change in the decal between the Giro and the Professional. The Pro was all Campangolo equipped with record or the top of the line parts.
I know nothing about the vintage of yours but if the trend was the same, I would be surprised if it was near the top of the line. JMHO. Hopefully someone in the know will bring clarity.
I have not cleaned mine up yet but you can see it here.

It's later than 73 as evidenced by the dropouts (from my research). It has braze on parts which isn't normally found on mid-line frames. Also the parts (while some are non-original) would indicate a nice bike.
That said, would really like to know more about it.

Based on the lugs and decals, your Bottecchia looks like it shares some similarities with my Mystery Bottecchia, which has a thread that may provide some insights for you: https://www.bikeforums.net/classic-vi...ottecchia.html

thanks for sharing this very interesting bike.
surprising to me that with all of the Teddy enthusiasts we have on the forum no one has been able to identify it...
perhaps that right person shall be along anon.

I received the Bottecchia today and started the unpacking process...it will take a few days due to my work schedule.
That said, I did measure the diameter for the seat post, 26.4mm. Overall, the frame feels medium-light weight wise.
Maybe this will help ID it and or what the tubing is.
Thanks,
Jim

Hello Jim,
Thank you for this additional information.
In your first post you stated frame appeared to be "upper end of food chain."
Top model at this time would have been kitted with Campag SR and next model down with Campag NR so the highest it could be is third down the totem pole. The measured seat post size would indicate a quality plain gauge tube set consistent with a midliner model.
Hope someone comes along soon to enlighten us all!

More empirical facts:
128mm at the rear drop outs and 100mm at the front. No visible serial number on the bottom bracket. The handlebar tape ends are dated 8/75.
Starting to feel lighter as I remove the packing material. It was well packed.
