Thought about 650b but the clearances in fork and chain stays are too tight to make that work well so I'll stay with 700c and look for some nice vintage clinchers.

No serial number... anyone have Bill's number or email at his new shop?
If you don't have your shifters yet.... Randyjawa just posted a superb pro set in for sale

Pretty bike. The tires on my Davidson measure abt. 26 mm and it's maxed out. Still a great riding bike though.
This one's got really tight clearances too, though I think I can get away with a 28.

Some more pics while I'm stuck at work.

Frameset. Note the Mavic headset and mystery BB. Note that this is neither the post I'm using nor my saddle height, and the stem will change also.

Brake-bridge detail. Love this.

Mystery BB close up.

Mr. Davidson is a talented fellow. The lugs are the nicest most thought-out of any bike I've owned, by far -- the two head tube lugs meet and join behind the head tube (need to get a pic of this.) He also seems to have gone back to plug the vent holes on the frame.

Details, yes! That brake bridge is to die for.

Well, I don't have the tool yet, but I'll probably order that along with new (gold anodized?!) cups from Action-Tec. They're based here in California.

That's already a pretty bike - can't wait to see the final version. Love the paint!

Interesting in that this frame uses the same bikini lugset on my late-70s/early-80s Davidson, and the brake bridge is identical to the one on my 02. You say no numbers?

Bill is still around, down around Fremont sharing building space and still doing frames.

That's spicy.

Maybe 700x28 Compass Chinook Pass tires will fit.

That's very doubtful unfortunately. I just measured again and I think the Cayuse Pass will be the max

Wheels, chain, cassette, and cables should all be here Wednesday. I'll probably shorten the brake housing loops a little at that time.

Yep, no serial number that I have found yet. I'll give Bill a call once I get this built up.

Found a crack in the NDS Mavic crank arm so the bike is at the C&V lbs getting the BB removed. I'll probably use the TA cyclotouriste cranks from my MTB on this, which will give me a very solid climbing range for Cino.

I note a similarity to the splash tape in your choice of brake cable outers - where did you find those?! Can we get a close-up?

Ha, that's some rainbow housing from eBay. Close ups coming when the bike is done, sometime next week.

Bikes: See sig

Whenever I see a red & yellow bike, I am reminded of my first "adult" bike, which I got when I was maybe 12. It was an early box store mountain bike, it weighed a ton, and it was way too big for me. I always called it "Ketchup & Mustard". I think I only had it a summer before I got hit by a car and it was wrecked--thankfully I was ok. Somehow I think your bike might be a little nicer...

I don't know why (I'm normally all about matching the details), but that housing really rubs me the right way. I wonder which of my bikes might benefit from a little color?

Glad the BB came out okay - and I wish I had some brakes for you. Alas...

I hope you get to finish this beauty up soon
