Do you recognize this Freewheel?

Hey all,

I purchased this on Ebay because I wanted a shiny gold freewheel for my Mercian. Its beautiful. NOS...

Does anyone recognize the brand? I never heard of it and I thought Ive seen it all. You would swear it was a suntour if you looked at it in person.

Let me know

SY Chain (Japan)

Company Profile

Looks to me like they started making stamped steel toys in the 40's and evolved into heavy manufacturing, could have easily made freewheels somewhere in between. You could contact them through the links if you like.

Id thought someone out there would be able to give me some background on this company. Never heard of them. I guess this freewheel is pretty old.

HEY. thanks for the Work! Interestingly it looks like a great freewheel but the company never really specialized in bicycle parts.

...would be interesting to pull it apart and see how closely the innards resemble a Suntour

The bike boom was just that in Japan. Every body that had a factory made stuff.
