Nice acquisition. I have one that bears some similarities but is a few years earlier ('72) with a different fork crown. It is also a blue repaint and the paint is of such good quality that it's going to remain as is.
Would you post some photos of the calipers. Interested to see if they are first gen record.

Wow...now that is very interesting. so,mine might just be original paint? I can tell you without a doubt, that the paint and decals on the bike sure look very old indeed. One never knows, with all those different people working down there at that time, it could have been done by a painter working in Carlsbad in 1974. I could see how many inconsistancies could happen.
From this website (gregfletcher.net):
masi lore, masi frame dates, masi trivia
This page of Masi lore was generously supplied by Brian Baylis, master frame builder* and early employee at Masi Carlsbad.
...
Placement of Faliero signature on California Masis Early CA Masi GC's have the Faliero Masi signature on the top tube at the seat lug. There is a proper side to lovate that decal on as well. We were instructed to place the decal on the left side of the top tube. Many Masis that were painted after Faliero stopped coming to the US periodically have the decal placed on the right side, which is actually more sensible because the brake cable housing goes to the left side to reach the campy brake. I personally place my decal on the right side of the frame, but technically first generation GC's and early CA Masis should have the decal on the left.

I think Bob Hovey's site has pretty much put that one to bed. See this for more info

I had a fine Father's Day. Yours was better. If I ever find myself a vintage Masi, I want it to have a fork crown just like yours. Congrats on another fine acquisition.

Note the herald is missing on the seat tube too.
Your bike should have yellow detail paint fill.
There is more wrong than right with that paint job.
Believe what you want though.

Check the info on Bob Hovey's site. I'm pretty sure MC does not mean Mario Confente.
