What is it then? It's definitely not a unicrown. It has two blades brazed into a crown.
Maybe I don't understand what a biplane fork is.

It's sort of a bi plane style fork, but not full bi plane. That is how I would describe it. It's cool regardless.

here is a bi plane.

I just replaced the ancient Dia Compe brake blocks with Kool-Stop Eagle 2 Salmon pads. Everything seems good so far.
Question: I got new shoes (just plain old sneakers), which are longer than my old ones. The pedal pressure is now too far forward on my foot because the cages aren't deep enough. Should I space the cage forward to effectively make it deeper, or do I need new ones?

On Thursday I rode up to the park for the Schwinn's 30th birthday (March 24 1986-2016).

Then I put fenders on it. I decided to add two pounds to the bike after climbing a mountain.

Snazzy looking! Love that colour... Copper?

Are you sure you want to take that out in the rain? Which fenders did you go with?

check your thread. Wald, good choice.

3Speedslow, yes it's copper. The paint's in half decent shape too. I'm going to college next year and I will need an all weather city bike, so I am planning to use it in the rain. It should be ok with proper maintenance, right?
Fietsbob, you found a Mirada frame like mine?

Absolutely!

Take care of it- keep it waxed, LOCK IT.

It's looking really cool. I hope you're enjoying it!

I sold this bike. One of my teachers was trying to get back into riding. He couldn't get comfortable on a road bike due to an old back injury. I let him try this one and he loves it.
It's gone to a good home. Now I'm looking for a replacement city/mountain bike in the Albany, NY area. I'm considering this one:
Used Specialized Hardrock

Why do you say that?

I was also looking at this. What do you guys think of the Miyata City Runner?

I'd buy this 1994 Trek 930. Fantastic price. Not a close decision!

Specs here: 1994 Trek 930 - BikePedia

The Miyata could work if the frame fit you. Don't know what the tubing is.

As to my first remark, I suspect any older suspension fork. My years as a mechanic learned me that all need servicing at one time or another and that cost money. Bottom barrel usually were just replaced which cost money. High end ones would get rebuilt which cost money plus. Steel forks did their job and were less weight then the suspension one anyway.

Bad forks beat you up. MHO.

Don't get any MTB with suspension. You're much better without for urban use.
