I like and ride my dusty pink 1984 Bridgestone 300 mixte more than most of my other finer C&V bikes.

Insidious C. 08-17-15 06:22 PM

I much prefer flogging my bikes mercilessly to cleaning them.

Danbianchi881 08-17-15 06:34 PM

I pat my bike after a long 30 miles ride and say great job today:)

Wait a minute.. You don't sell bikes on this forum, do you? ;)

i think i bought a stolen brooks b17 special saddle off craigs once. the guy was a real creep. maybe i shouldn't have bought it. i dunno. i really needed it at the time.

but ... if there's a flipper circle in dante's hell, i'm pretty sure i'll be near the top ... hopefully near the (other) prostitutes and self indulgent.

and as the talking heads sang, "heaven is a place ... where nothing ever happens..."

One of my favorite bikes has a galvanized steel basket bolted onto the back

Are there people who don't like the looks of Victory? I've also found found it to be a very smooth shifting derailleur, much better than Nuovo Record.

Along those lines, I prefer the shifting on my Victory-equipped bike to my first generation C-Record-equipped bike :o I was never sure if that simply meant I had a bad example of the latter?

My Bianchi has Gatorskins.

I''m still a weight weenie. Not to go faster, but to feel faster (works when I'm riding alone on short hills).

It reminds me of a show I used to love called Babylon 5. In one of the episodes the show's Captain/main protagonist tells the show's villain (at least the villain at that point) that he's fed him a very sophisticated tracking/monitoring device. Later, the Captain's security officer tells him he didn't think they had anything like that...to which the captain responds that's the beauty...because it doesn't exist, they're going to torture the heck out of him looking for it.

(Yes, I'm a complete nerd)

Funny (to me at least), in the post quoted by Aaron, I read belt rather than bolt... I just about **** myself laughing at the deviousness of the manipulation!!!

I'm really starting to like hollow tech cranks.

Steve Whitlatch 08-17-15 09:42 PM

I think my Shimano Tri Color is every bit as pretty as my Campagnolo NR. There, I said it. :)

Me too. More for nostalgia than anything else at this point.

davester 08-17-15 10:21 PM

I feel guilty about having sullied the reputation of my Nuovo Record parts by adding a triplizer and long cage to provide lower gearing.

Also, my brakes not only rub at 30 miles but both of my tires go flat by 60 miles.

Homebrew01 08-17-15 10:22 PM

I always thought Campy C-Record was fugly. Had it on team race bikes back when. Underwhelmed. Sold it a while back.

My son, we all have these feelings at times and it is only through the grace of our lord and saviour, Eddy Merckx (blessed be his name) that we relent and do not act out on these fantasies.

Please say 20 Fausto Coppis and 20 Marco Pantanis so that you might gain absolution for your sins.

Some may think that there are a multitude of sins but the only unpardonable sin is that of mixing Campagnolo with Shimano which will damn your soul to an eternal hell of multi use pathways that are populated with uncontrolled dogs and joggers who cannot hear you over their headphones.

One shudders to think of what an eternity of that would be like.

People are free to believe whatever they may but is the combination of disparate beliefs that truly angers our lord and saviour, blessed be his name.

I like mountain bikes, and really want a 2015 model. Sorry. Please forgive me. ;)

Be careful out there; an employee of mine just bought a brand new Rockhopper. It weighs 34 lbs and cost $900, and is a size larger than he needs. It looks (and probably is) indestructible. Way overbuilt and brutally ugly in flat black and grey.

I didn't have the heart to remind him I offered him my 26-lb Kona Lava Dome for $250, less than a year ago. And it's his size.

We're going to go out and ride the logging roads above town on Wednesday night and I'm gonna kick his 22-year-old soccer-star ass. On my Kona.http://www.zoominto.com/zoomapi/ZoomButt.gif

carbomb 08-17-15 11:53 PM

I ponder cleaning out a space in the back of my closet to hang another bike or two... so my girlfriend won't see when she visits ;)

mikemowbz 08-18-15 01:12 AM

Took a two week holiday, left the bike(s) at home.

Passed many cyclists on the highways, both practical and heroic (riding a narrow switchback road up to a 6500ft summit in the Canadian Rockies, which happens to be covered in horseflies, anyone?)

I regret it, and feel the need to confess.

I rode my regular short evening route my second day back, and it felt good. Long ride this weekend.

Thank you father...

Hail Coppi, full of grace...the Bianchi is with him...
Blessed are thou amongst Campy, and blessed is the fruit of thy yellow jerseys
Hail Coppi, champion of tours, pray for our triples
Now at the hour of our ascent
Amen

I hear you on the mtb "problem."

I have a 2015 Niner Air 9 that is a dream bike.

I saw a pic of the 2016 Niners and Yeties.

Guess what I want now? :)
