Double dip
When riding in the country sometimes I don't bother to walk into the trees (or corn) to pee. And I have a Nashbar carbon bike. And I like it. |
I confess that I really wish mtnbike would learn brevity. And maybe humility.

I confess I've lost 16 pounds off my body in eight months. |
I like brifters best of all.
|
I started the Anti-Brifter Club, and have since purchased a pair of brifters (though they haven't made it onto a bike yet).
I created a Strava account this weekend. It didn't work for some reason. Perhaps because GPS was over-ridden when I launched the MapMyRide app. I, too, have re-used bearings and brake cables. I'm usually a sweaty mess when I first get to work. I don't always wear a helmet. I haven't ridden a century since I was a teenager. I often ride with an earbud in one ear. I practice Idaho stops, but live in California. I should be working. |

I sometimes lust after a modern carbon bike with brifters and 2 x 11 gearing . . .
Then I need to go on a long ride on an old steel steed to get these unclean thoughts out of my mind. |
I don't shave my legs.
I often ride with earbuds. Only on the MUP, and I only listen to news, talk or podcasts. I find it actually makes for a quieter ride since they cut down on the wind noise. I LOVE brifters, dual pivot brakes, and clipless pedals. I hate Brooks saddles. They may eventually become the most comfortable saddle in the world, but I don't have patience for the break-in period. And they are boat-anchor heavy. Twine and shellac is silly. I prefer Shimano to Campy. My 'nicest' bike has 10 sp Record on it, and my beater has Tiagra. I prefer the Tiagra. The shifters are smoother, quieter etc. I do think that the Campy is prettier. |
I rationalize my lack of velocity.

There. I confess. |
Not bike related...but here's my whopper of a confession:
I don't get the big deal about Beach Boys Pet Sounds...it's a perfectly nice album, but this landmark virtuso moment of genius? It's no White Album, Village Green Preservation Society or Blonde on Blonde. Ohhhh...and Sopranos had crappy acting and pretty generic story lines. |
My Nashbar carbon bike has a Brooks leather saddle on it. Really.
|
I have several C&V bikes - and NONE have DT shifters!!! Three road bikes with SunTour bar-cons, two with thumb shifters (the MTBs), and one with an index(trigger) shifter - the three-speed.

-I can't find a bike shop that I like so I mail order everything. If you expect me to pay significantly above mail order prices you need to at least give me your attention when I come into your shop.
-I buy stuff that I like and don't really get bent over what other people think it's worth. Recently it has been a string of eBay Dura Ace components. I've probably got new Ultegra groupset money tied up in 25 year old DA used parts. -I have SPD sandals that I wear when I'm riding in temps over 100 degrees -I recently did my longest ride which was a metric century. I had to stop at mile 55 and puke my guts out before I could continue. Not proud of that. |
Wow. You people need help. :) having said that; i love my Italian steel but my carbon bike is my best bike. But it doesn't have Campy, yet. I ride tubeless and I like it. I love c-record. I'm an Italian snob. I prefer NOS to cleaning and polishing.

In my day job for Velo Orange, designing products and writing installation instructions, I enjoy imagining new ways to test end users' sanity.

I once flipped a Schwinn Rams horn fastback claiming to be the original owner. The buyer practically wanted a provenance report. I mix Campagnolo componetry when doing parts bin builds. If it's clear at a stop sign, I rarely come to a complete stop. I still like Lance Armstrong. I like the ride of Reynolds 531 over Columbus anything, I re-use old brake pads. I prefer my Raleigh Pro to My Chrome Paramount. Nervex lugs no longer excite me.

From across an intersection I recently watched a very stylish young woman snag her rubber sheep farmer boots on a pedal and fall over at a dead stop. I laughed. Does that make me a bad person?
Oh yeah...... I accidentally killed a hobo in Indiana |
I only have two bikes, one road, one mountain.
Brifters are fantastic, I don't wear a helmet, I do wear sneakers and regular shorts over lycra ones. I reuse cables if I can. I ride pro-active in the city and will jump redlights or blow through stop signs if I feel it's safe and will keep the cars behind me. |

Edit: Never mind. Ha! I missed the prior post from @eschlwc, who btw is completely off-base re Desire vs. Blonde on Blonde. |

I'm actually considering the purchase of a carbon fibre framed bike.
