Edit: Never mind. Ha! I missed the prior post from @eschlwc, who btw is completely off-base re Desire vs. Blonde on Blonde.

To be fair, I didn't actually kill him but he did look pretty peeved. And he may not have been an actual hobo but he was pretty scruffy. Oh, and it happened in Idaho which is kind of close to Indiana.

hmmm. confessional? that sounds more like a testimonial to a lost friend.

The poor creature had the most piteous look in its eyes as it seemed to recognize the position it had unwittingly placed itself in. That however, was the first, last, and only connection we shared. I looked back to see it limp off the road, but within a quarter mile, I was being chased by a loose pit bull. Quite the ride that day.

I don't get the big deal about Beach Boys Pet Sounds...it's a perfectly nice album, but this landmark virtuso moment of genius? It's no White Album, Village Green Preservation Society or Blonde on Blonde.

Ohhhh...and Sopranos had crappy acting and pretty generic story lines.

+1000. My god, somebody finally said it...the emperor has no clothes!

Next up for deconstruction: Neutral Milk Hotel.....

Essthreetee 08-19-15 07:32 AM

I prefer Blackwell tires on my bikes.

I ride my road bikes with Mountain shoes.

Phil_gretz 08-19-15 07:38 AM

Me, too...

Rocket-Sauce 08-19-15 07:40 AM

I am very VERY jealous of KonAaron's bikes.

I suffer from an extreme form of 'upgrade-itis' to the point where my beater / rain / errand bikes end up "too nice" to ride in the rain.

Phil_gretz 08-19-15 07:55 AM

Okay. Here goes...

I regret recently selling my '82 Fuji Team and '77 Fuji S-10S.

My remaining C&V, a 1988 Fuji Saratoga, doesn't ride as nicely as my new commuter bike. Not by a long shot.

I've never owned any Campagnolo anything, except for one seatpost clamp bolt.

I doubt that I'll ever own another C&V bike. :(

Ex Pres 08-19-15 08:28 AM

I often can't keep up with the groups I ride with when I'm on my C&V bikes, so I've been riding my OT bikes more this year.

(yeah, yeah, it's not about the bike, but it dang sure is about the gearing around here)

Dude...I do not get them either. I got dragged to seeing them at The Mann a couple of years ago...VERY boring. The only reason I can think of to listen to them is that there were lots of cute little indie rock girls at the show. I would have liked that part in 1996.

Okay, I confess I have no idea what either of you are talking about. But it sounds like it's probably better that way.

Me too. I paid 20 bucks for them. I didn't know about the hipster thing. There's no chance that I'll be mistaken for a hipster at my age.

Two days ago I spent 400€ on this lovely Gazelle Champion Mondial.

Then this Columbus Minimax Ciöcc came up and I'm already seriously thinking about parting with another 600€... This is an illness!

They are on sale for 8.99. The crochet part wipes the nose well, and dries quicker.

This is a gorgeous bike!

09box 08-19-15 01:32 PM

I ride wearing mountain bike shoes.

I prefer the Stones over the Beatles.

I think some jazz sounds like pure noise.

michael k 08-19-15 01:46 PM

I like to polish aluminum on flipper bikes....

Most of my bikes aren't particularly good looking. I don't have the knack for that. Or maybe I've just grown accustomed to their faces.

eschlwc 08-19-15 02:31 PM

great album.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...cover_copy.jpg

not a confessional. more of a public service.

btw, mccartney called 'pet sounds' his favorite and an inspiration. but what does he know?

.

edit: that breakthrough 'neutral milk hotel' album was recorded at pet sounds studio, denver, colorado. coincidence? or is this some kind of conspiracy?!

Mindcrime 08-19-15 03:53 PM

My C&V Gazelle is mounted on my trainer. With no brake pads. Because I am lazy.

Neutral Milk Hotel is ok, but really, why bother. Listen to the 'Mats instead.

That's not an illness, that's luck!

Oh, and I have Shimano spd pedals on my Colnago. I wear mtb shoes to ride it.

uncle uncle 08-19-15 04:13 PM

I've road on sidewalks on occasion (actually, the nearest town has an ordinance that bikes MUST ride on the sidewalk). I often drive my truck with my bike in back to the bike path to skip the hassle of riding on the busy streets near my home. My last new inner tube purchase was from Wallyworld. My daily ride has two waterbottle cages (and plastic clampy thingies) also from Wallyworld (no waterbottle mounts). I like the way my assets look in lycra bike shorts, but my wife is not so sure. I own more than a dozen jerseys, but routinely ride in a running shirt to make myself look less "bike dude" like. I routinely blow by guys on the bike path, but for some riders of fairer sex, I will "draft" a bit and enjoy the scenery. Yeah, I have lots of issues.

Wileyone 08-19-15 04:27 PM

I am an English snob. Italians are hard to understand and the French well, forget about it.

nesteel 08-19-15 04:51 PM

I own nothing with DT shifters, yet.
I am now a huge brifter fan.
I've always liked bar end shifters.
I prefer Campagnolo over Shimano.
Most of my operable bikes are 9speed indexed.
I just bought my newest bike (2009. And yes, it's steel).
I only own one "Heroica/Eroica" qualifying bike.
That one bike has bar end shifters.
I prefer classic rock.
I ride with mountain bike shoes.
Most of my bikes have SPD clipless pedals.
