I don't really care about the "classic" nature of older bikes. I like C&V bikes because you can ride, work on bikes, swap out parts, do some fun wrenching for relatively cheap- (cheap when it comes to cycling as a hobby, I'm sure we all manage to spend more money than is neccesary)

I still *kind of* shave my legs even though I haven't raced in many years. I can't stand the bushy legs, so I run the clippers over them every month or two.

And no I don't manscape.

TMI

The tall guy who rides his beautiful, steel Colnago around the area doesn't have anything to fear from me because his bike must be at least 62 cm. Slightly irked that he didn't give any indication when he rode right by me and I called out "sweet bike" the other day, though.

He could just be really hard of hearing, like me. :(

On that note, I confess that I, too, ride with the earbuds in. I'm not listening to anything but ringtone when I get a call. It's the only way I can hear it while underway. And the answer button makes it easier to take the call while I'm pulling off to the curb.

On that note, I confess that when you see me out riding with my earbuds in, I'm supposed to be at work. I just forwarded the front desk phone out to my cell.

I confess that's what I like best about being the boss. :)

Not a big deal at all. Was just a little disappointed that a fellow steel aficionado seemed to have missed a blip of affirmation.

I haven't taken the Hetchins out for over 4 years.

No need to derail a perfectly good thread.

It happened.

I confess that I'm not ready to give this place up yet. Good for me :)

Good for us!

I am totally into the bike clothing. I like lycra! I have outfits and helmets to match certain bikes.

When I ride hills I repeat "Contador in the mountains!" Over and over in my head, even though I'm more of a Chris Froome fan

I read Grant Petersen's Just Ride, and even agreed with some of it.

jimmuller 08-20-15 01:56 PM

I prefer not to wear an orange jersey when I ride my red bike.

I think my wrench/buddy did Wally World bikes to the tune of 25 (or more) a shift. Piecework.

I just deleted my post. I like to test the system by seeing how long I can leave a post up and then delete it.

Would you like me to Un-Delete so you can practice? :)

The first time I wore lycra it was called spandex and I wore it with big hair, not bikes. Had a pair of purple zebra-striped pants in the regular rotation.

Oh, and re:

I rode an uncomfortable seat for years because it was original and "correct" for the bike.

Giacomo 1 08-21-15 09:36 AM

I still get misty when I think of the good times I had on my first bike, an Iverson Charger.

Rode it all day, everyday, and it was, and is, the most fun I'll ever have on a bike, sniff, sniff...

Are you a mod? No need to undelete. I sometimes post and then later have second thoughts. This latest was in reference to Dylan and McCartney. Off topic.

Yep. I was promoted from member to moderator about a year ago.

You do a nice job keeping this looney bin together.

Can't be easy at times.

I didn't have any spandex at the time, but while cleaning out my parents' garage a few weeks ago I found my long-lost black-on-black leopard print Beatle boots. My kids were horrified when I suggested that I might wear them to work.
I think they'd look special with my lycra bib shorts.
