My daughter, aged 9, on her new-to-her Schwinn Mesa Runner. First ride on her full-sized bike.

Eugene, Oregon, we're there for the daughter's graduation from U of O. I see this and take the photo, say to the daughter, "You don't see that every day."

"Yes I do."

This thread is making me just too happy. To counteract that unnatural feeling, I've started a new thread.

Since everyone else is 'outing' their C&V riding buddies on this thread, I'll do it too: Here's @Wildwood cruising my '82 Motobecane Jubile Sport across the the Elwha Bridge on the Olympic discovery Trail just west of Port Angeles, WA. Thanks for the pizza & beer, Stuart!

He's my grandmother's nephew. This must have been taken in the early sixties.

Oh, man - how I can relate to this photo! I did my route early on with my late-60s Schwinn Apple Krate and tried to carry the bag on my bars. No way! Mounted some baskets pannier-style after I got my first paycheck

^ LOL, gloves and no helmet. Yup, that's me climbing on a hot day. But I think you had your camera tilted funny on that pic; IIRC that hill looks more like this:

We should do that again and get an earlier start to beat the heat.

@davester, is that a Rover TC sedan back in the garage in your paper route pic? I had one of those "Baby Jags" back in the 80's.

Tim, that is a more accurate portrayal of that climb! And yes, I want to make that climb again - and my Davidson 8-speed will be the tool for the trade now that the gearing issues have been solved.

Here's my wife trying to learn to ride a bike. She's on my daughter's commuter bike, a Specialized Crossroads hybrid. My oldest is in back on an early 80s pink Bianchi Mixte. My youngest got off her tricycle to run along side, and generally get in the way.
