Cast your vote! High or Low Flange
Excuse me for asking this question again. I asked peoples' opinion before, but it got buried in another thread.
What looks more appropriate? High or Low flange. This is a late 80s or early 90s frame. I am using Campy SR components which are older; early 80s. So, it will not pass any purist test. I am just not sure; the High flange are beautiful, but look kind of weird.
What do you think?

I definitely like the look of high flange hubs better.

On that particular bike - low flange.
The large-flange hubs don't look appropriate, considering the more-modern late-80s steel bike design.

I like the look of high flange hubs best but they are definitely not age-appropriate for a late 80s or 90s bike.

incazzare.
Low flange, given the period of the bike. That is a sexy frame.

low flange looks more appropriate since that is what you asked. but if you like the look of the high flange better (which I suspect you do or you would not be asking) than go for it!
my method for these things is: Flip a coin- and if you disagree with the coin- or agree- then you have your answer.

I have both and switch them from time to time.
To me, high looks more technical, low looks lighter and faster. Sometimes end up with high on the rear and low on the front.

High flanges polished to a high lustre is the cause of me being totally distracted while I ride staring down at them. These are the statement-makers of C&V bikes.
ETA: for that era yes, low flange.

I would like to see the same set for the rear. My initial reaction is the large flange hubs don't look right with this frame.

As other lovers of high-flange have said, this bike calls for low.

It's really hard to judge the visuals without crank, tires, etc. But that bike should have low flange hubs. High gives more shiny silver surface to gleam in the sunlight, but that isn't right for that bike and may even compete with the paint for the eye's attention.

My preference is always high, but in this case low looks better.
