Most of the nicer ones were made by Miyata and have Miyata serial numbers with the leading letter denoting the year. The "1" could be an "I", which I think is 1980. I don't see your bike in the 80 catalog, so maybe it wasn't made by Miyata or it's from the 81 model year?
