I went on a nice 37 mile ride yesterday afternoon and met @noglider on the route for a ride down the West Side Greenway. Here are a couple of shots of my U08 at the lake in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
jimmuller Good catch Jim! There is no Bronx College in Brooklyn BUT there is Long Island University in Brooklyn. Go figure. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=482814http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=482815 |

Before picking me up at work at Manhattan College in the Bronx -- the college is misnamed! --, he met a couple who had ridden all the way from Wisconsin. Later, the two of us ran into them. After Greg and I took the pictures below, I proceeded south as Greg went back north, and I ran into the couple yet again. The husband said he used to live in San Francisco, and his idea of fun was to fly to NYC just to ride a bike in our streets. Well, yes, you could call it invigorating. Or you could call it insane. At Greg's turnaround point, we stopped and took these pictures. The other guy is a visitor from Australia. We had trouble understanding him. He said he had a Colnaggio bike. I asked him to spell it. COLNAGO. Oh, right. Then he said he also had an Eddy Murk. Spell it? Merckx. Right, OK. Pretty neat story, Tom. Um, where is Bronx College? Don't say in Brooklyn. :D

More PNW fall colors here. Took the Somec out for her true maiden run (I finished this bike back in the summer of 2014) on the Sammamish River Trail and the eastern shore of Lake Sammamish. I love this bike! Wow...just wow...

hey Drillium Dude, those are some great photos! Nice bike too!
The fall weather has been great here in corn country, although pretty windy. The commute home tonight included a fine sunset, so I had to take a picture or two... https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/596/21...5f97bd_z_d.jpg |

My goodness, the fall ride pictures are the best ride pictures of the year. My wife and I had some fun rides last weekend, and greg3rd48 and I took a nice ride along the Hudson this week.
I'm sad because I was set to go ride the annual Old Croton Aqueduct trail ride with about ten other folks. It's a great ride, and it would have been my third time. But I've caught a bad cold. I didn't make my decision to skip the ride until 11pm last night, because I really thought I might be able. And maybe I would, but I need to rest to get better. I think I'll take a short ride alone in the city. I can use some fresh air, and it's quite fresh today. |
Or more currently, here is our weather...on my way to the deer stand yesterday predawn:

VR, unbelievably beautiful pics!
Sorry to hear of your cold, Tom. |

Thank you. I took a couple of rides on Citi Bike, and they were adventures, of sorts. Battling midtown traffic and insanely ripped up streets were challenges. I went looking for a place to buy pants, since I've lost so damned much weight recently. I went to Paragon and didn't find any pants, but I bought a ski helmet for riding in the worsts of the winter days.
I got hit again myself with a nasty cold (I think it's flu) this weekend after just recovering from one a little over a week back. Fall has not been healthy for me. |
From today's ride..............

poprad, I've reduced the amount of junk food I eat and have replaced it with good food. Overall, I think I eat the same as before and possibly increased. I've also increased the riding I do. I think I will have ridden 2,000 miles this calendar year. Last year was about 1,500, which was also more than the previous year. I'm 5'9" tall (175 cm) and down to 158 pounds (72 kg).
