Post your Fall ride pics....
Not much color but the big bluestem grass looked nice here. A windy but very enjoyable ride on my 1000 yesterday.

My friend invited me on a 40 mile bike ride - a social ride. We met at a park in N. Portland, rode up Williams to Ainsworth, then west to Willamette Blvd to the St. John's bridge (this is the bridge that the "Shell-No" protestors hung from a couple of months ago to try to stop the ship going to the arctic. This saved us from having to go through the busy, industrial part of Hwy 30 closer to Portland). Once onto Hwy 30 we headed west a few miles to get to the bridge onto Sauvie's Island, where the locals either love cyclists or hate them. This island is a very popular spot for cyclists but the island is designed for auto traffic. Lots of farms, beaches, a nude beach, oak forests and wintering spots for migratory birds (tundra swans). We did the 15 mile loop around the island which is very flat, and stopped at a popular pumpkin patch/country store farm, rode our bikes out to and around the patch. All in all it was a nice ride and I'd do it again with friends. I was not on a classic/vintage bike but there was one in the group.

Not much fall color in the high desert, but this is on a century ride in southern Nevada called the "Park to Park Pedal". This is at a place called Miller Point in Cathedral Gorge State Park.

The dog likes running along on bike rides, so took her to James River Park today.

Only rode a few blocks today because the sun was hiding most of the day and rain was intermittent. Here is the fall color off my front porch.

Our foliage hasn't turned yet, but the days sure are getting a whole lot nicer, albeit shorter.

This part of North Carolina doesn't have fall.
We have two seasons, with a transition weekend between them: 1-Hot 2-Not so hot. Once in a while, we get a day or three of winter. It snows, widespread panic and chaos ensues. We're out of school for a week while it melts in the shady spots. Then it's not so hot again. |
These were taken over the last few weeks.

However, the wife and I are heading up "that way" at the end of the month. How does that work? Appleton being associated as close to Door County... I guess everything north of Port Washington or Campbellsport is "up north" to me. :D |
From this morning's ride, the view from Peter's Hill, Arnold Arboretum, Jamaica Plain/Boston, MA.

I went on a nice 37 mile ride yesterday afternoon and met @noglider on the route for a ride down the West Side Greenway. Here are a couple of shots of my U08 at the lake in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx.
jimmuller Good catch Jim! There is no Bronx College in Brooklyn BUT there is Long Island University in Brooklyn. Go figure. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=482814http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=482815 |

Before picking me up at work at Manhattan College in the Bronx -- the college is misnamed! --, he met a couple who had ridden all the way from Wisconsin. Later, the two of us ran into them. After Greg and I took the pictures below, I proceeded south as Greg went back north, and I ran into the couple yet again. The husband said he used to live in San Francisco, and his idea of fun was to fly to NYC just to ride a bike in our streets. Well, yes, you could call it invigorating. Or you could call it insane. At Greg's turnaround point, we stopped and took these pictures. The other guy is a visitor from Australia. We had trouble understanding him. He said he had a Colnaggio bike. I asked him to spell it. COLNAGO. Oh, right. Then he said he also had an Eddy Murk. Spell it? Merckx. Right, OK. Australian guy and Greg https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/--...2017.55.01.jpg The bikes https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-p...2017.55.08.jpg Greg and Tom and bikes https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-6...2017.56.13.jpg Same subjects https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-b...2017.56.18.jpg |
Pretty neat story, Tom. Um, where is Bronx College? Don't say in Brooklyn. :D
