Shouldn't that Rumblefish cover be black and white?
A visually stunning film as well. |
I read the OP when it first posted and tuned out after page one. Saw this thread hit sixteen pages and thought, "Did we really give the op that much credit?" Now I see we have owned this thread, and rightly so. Well done. |

Saddle preference is subjective. All there is to it. |
Off on another semi-related jag. Through getting interested in LP albums again, I got on a nostalgia trip and decided to try to replace a few Fillmore and Avalon Ballroom concert posters I had on my bedroom wall when I was 16. I returned home from my bike tour of the Olympic Peninsula to find my dad had thrown them all away! Thanks dad. I just framed up these two.
One of Stanley Mouse and Alton Kelley's most beautiful posters. Original second printing, printed shortly after the show. http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/...psof0yjanj.jpg |

You're the first person I've ever met, besides myself, who had that album. Cray definitely had to use his vocals on that album to counter those riffs. Ironic, and sad, that SRV's last concert was with Clapton and Robert Cray, whom Clapton called "too pretty to be a guitar player." Thanks for posting that cover. Brings back blurred memories.
I saw your post earlier regarding Brother Love's Travelling Salvation Show, yep, had on 8 track.:) |
And the next one in the queue, Wes Wilson. The father of the psychedelic concert poster. Original first print.

Hey Robbie, In the early 80’s while on the hunt for some Johnny Winter albums I ran across an Alligator Records sampler. The sampler had a lot of artists I recognized from blues shows I had been to and some I did not recognize, so one thing led to another. At the time I had purchased almost their entire catalog so when Showdown! showed up it was mine, I was already a huge fan of the strong persuader and had albums by the other two artists as well. If you go to the Alligator website it’s a who’s who of the best blues artists you may have never heard of; and of course some famous ones. Guys like Tinsley Ellis, Lazy Lester, Kenny Neal, etc.

Let's transition to favorite album art. Albums are C&V. |
Ha! Alligator Records. I became aware of them when I happened across a Thorogood CD for like $4, and looked into the label at Quicksilver Records in Greenville NC. The shop owner had his LP's sorted by label, and he steered me to the 'gator collection. I think I bought 2-3 a week for the next couple of years.

Roxy Music has some good ones, but not appropriate.

after 'heart of gold' reached number one, neil said, "i found myself in the middle of the road, so i headed for the ditch."
this 'ditch' (mid '70s) period is his most compelling in my opinion (very emotional, live and raw) and includes 'on the beach,' 'tonight's the night,' and 'zuma.' before the '80s changed much of the rock landscape, neil released some more great work: the two live "rust" albums, 'american stars n bars,' and a great country rock album, 'comes a time.' |
