Retro rides and events?

How do vintage rides like L'Eroica advertise themselves? There wasn't a single one in my program of events for this year. Is there a website or something? Better yet, anybody know of one in Ohio or the surrounding states? I wholeheartedly intend to do one of these rides if I can find one.

Bikes: many

You can get on l'Eroica's mailing list. Mailings are in Italian and English. I imagine Cino Heroica has a mailing list as well. Still, there is much more out there than just those few events: swap meets (with or without strict focus on vintage stuff), regularly scheduled vintage rides, and non-vintage events like the Dairyland Dare where people like RobbieTunes catalyze participation by vintage bike folk.

Dale Brown and I attempt to maintain a calendar of upcoming events in Google Calendar. It's displayed at the bottom of the Classic Rendezvous front page. Note that it might be a bit more restrictive than the stuff we talk about here, since the CR group has a more tightly defined focus on the vintage bike hobby/business. If you have events to publicize, feel free to send them to me. I prefer email (skip at pobox dot com) over PMs.

I still think there should be a sticky in this forum about vintage rides.

That said, there are very few large vintage rides in the US. Eroica CA and Cino Eroica are about it. The rest are smaller, more casual events. No good single listing.

I think if you have a Google account you can add the Vintage Cycling Events Calendar to your set of calendars. In your calendar settings page, you can subscribe to the calendar, which (if my experience is correct) means you will get an email whenever the calendar is updated:

There should be organized C&V rides all over the country in summer.

Well, we're going to try for the Dairyland Dare.

We took a slight step forward this year, courtesy of iab and Russ Larsen, the event director.
In order to go to the next increment, we will need 2 things: 1-numbers and 2-help.
If we get both, we can very likely have a good showing, and step up again next year.

You know, no one is knocking down doors to get into a "normal" bike show: that's like looking at a parking lot.
There needs to be something the curious want to at least take a look at, and the chronic are a given.
This leads us to Classic & Vintage, and when that happens, someone has to set parameters.
I'm sure, in the case of the Dairyland Dare, someone will, smarter and more perceptive than I.

Would be nice to have a Classic & Vintage catetory, and set it at a date limit.
Of course, as soon as that is done, someone challenges it. So be it. The world is not fair.
Inside that Classic & Vintage, there can always be more "pure" categories, like L'Eroica-qualified and/or even earlier.

And, there could be an incentive, which would mean useful awards.

Notice I do not say "should." There are enough people saying "they should..." "there should be...." etc.

Bikes: Yes, please.

Some European dates for 2016:

11-12 June, Retroronde van Vlaanderen, Oudenaarde, Belgium
18-19 June. Anjou Vélo Vintage, Saumur, France.
28 September - 2 October: l'Eroica, Gailole in Chianti, Italy

Mrs non-fixie and I have already booked a room in Oudenaarde , but we'll have to give the other two a miss in '16, I'm afraid.

If you are talking Europe, there is a L'Eroica-like event most every week in Italy from May through October. This is the site you want,

the cino heroica is not at all big - limited to 150 riders. loads of fun, though.
