So is it really true that you can't put too much water in a nuclear reactor?

Well I was in the IT department, not the engineers, so take this with a grain of salt. In the CANDU design, heavy water is the moderator, which enables reaction, so too much heavy water is no good.

The Sony disc changer sounds nice, but you can't FF. I might get out my broken Yamaha changer- just because it was really awesome- the eject but to is just kind of dicked up.

Real nice collection, GoldenBoy. I only have my simple little setup, which includes a circa '75 Pioneer SA-9500 amp, a nice unit, a Pioneer tuner of the same vintage, a lower end Technics turntable of roughly the same vintage which works just OK but is no great shakes, and my old JBL L-19 speakers which I bought new in '77. Not fancy, but at least I can annoy my wife with the thump, thump, thump.

I had never heard of this guy before. Interesting music.

Visited sis today, helped her with outdoor / home chores. She treated me to a late breakfast at an amazing preserved / original 50's stainless steel diner. It survived Sandy, later moved from PA to WI. Apparently there's only three left of this make remaining in the US. But whats more amazing is sis. A miracle, beat the odds and survivor. Not here to disclose details but most inspirational.


Anyways, since this a bike forum C&V specific a little bonus today as well. Traveling along the rural farm backroads, found some old bikes laying near a ditch with some garbage appliances. Decided to take just this old electrostatic welded, made in Chicago Schwinn. The geared hub is dated 1966. All original including saddle. Silly happy Sis got a kick out of it.

^Most kind words from you guys. She's done so much for others and even in the worst situations always brings happiness. Also incredibly gifted in the arts. Ever lighting up a room, yet bashful to not mention times of recognition even of a couple invites and dinners at the White House. I couldn't be more proud of her.

You've all seen that photo of my assortment of musical instruments. About a year ago, I put a few of them to good use and wrote, arranged, sang, and produced an original song as a tribute to all the Vietnam Veterans (in keeping with sort of a C&V theme)

I was all of about 7 or 8 years old during the heyday of Vietnam and two of my brother-in-law's were over there in the late 60's & 1970. I wrote the song from the heart from a little kids perspective after hearing all the stuff they talked about after they came back, and after remembering Walter Cronkite on the TV giving news reports every night too.

Drums = hand written percussion track, using Finale on my laptop (My wife won't let me have a real drumset in the house) :(
Bass = Me
Rhythm guitar = Me
Keyboards (organ mode) = Me
Trumpet = Me
Trombone = Me
Lead vocals = Me
Upper harmony (falsetto like the Bee Gee's) = Me
Lead guitar wah-wah solo = Me (done on the fly, in one take!)

Thanks... In the closing credits, those are my two brother-in-law's names that I listed.

Jack Keery is also seen in a cameo in slideshow during the chorus where the lyrics go, "Vietnam Heroes, pray for all the names on the wall". My sister Linda and brother-in-law Jack went up to DC and visited the Vietnam Wall. It really hit Jack hard, as he saw all the names of the guys in his platoon on the wall, and spent about a week drunk out of his mind once they got back home. Tragically, he is only 1 of 6 out of his whole platoon that made it home safe and sound after the war. :(

My other brother-in-law James "Brute" Nowak, is also referred to in the lyrics, namely, "Hanging from a Huey way up in the sky..." As "Brute" was a doorgunner during Vietnam and hung out the door with an M60 machine gun. He always joked that the life expectancy of a doorgunner was 15 minutes, so I added that also to the lyrics. Tragically, that last line in the verses also is in honor and memory of "Brute" as he succumbed to heart failure and cancer due to exposure of Agent Orange. When I played this song for my sister Karen, she cried... :(

Edit... Also, yours truly has a cameo in the slideshow during the lyrics "I was just a little kid when you went away to war". That is a photo of me in 4th grade in 1970.

I assume the speakers are on nifty mid-century tables- but it would be awesome if the legs were part of the speakers...

BTW- first snow was last night.

We walked the dog shortly after it started. He didn't seem to mind. He had on his fall weight jacket- just a fleece "cape" kind of thing. This one wraps under his chest. His winter one has straps.
