Blackburn MTF-1 FRONT RACK - no longer available?
I have a black one of these on my Panasonic mountain bike and really like it.
MTF-1 FRONT RACK
I'd prefer silver and started searching online for one and no one seems to have them anymore. Does anyone know if or where they can be found? I thought MEC had a replica of it a few years ago but can't find that either. Any other suggestions for an inexpensive platform front rack that can mount on mid fork braze ons?
If anyone has a silver version and would be willing to trade for a black send me a PM. May or may not be worth the effort based on shipping but worth a try :-)

Have you seen the Sunlite front racks?
Personally, for a front bag support and classic look, the Soma front racks look pretty swell.

Since the paint is fragile on these racks, may I suggest: Paint stripper or silver spray paint?

I have a silver Vetta front rack that is very similar to the Soma and just has the fork crown and dropout mounts. Not as solid for touring without the mid-fork attachment and well since the bike has the mid-fork braze ons I kind of feel it looks odd not to make use of and incorporate them :-)

I've tossed that idea around. Right now the black looks pretty solid and I don't know how well stripper would work. I think the silver paint would chip off too easy with the on and off bag attachment but I guess a check into powder coating costs might be worth a try.

looking at racks over the years, most seem to be anodized or powder coated. Both processes are intended to last for a long time so they're difficult to remove.
If actually solvent based paint or epoxy then standard paint strippers should work OK.
