My Vintage MIELE Road bicycles

I didn't want to hijack someone elsde's thread and the SEARCH here didn't turn up a thread dedicated to MIELE road bicycles. I had posted 2 imkages on another thread and said i'd post more images of My MIELE Columbus SLX bicycle. Here they are.

This is an older MIELE Columbus SLX frame that I upgraded with a mix of Campagnolo Mirage and Veloce parts back during 2001. The pedals are Shimano Exage that i filed, sanded and polished to a high lustre. the saddle is an old leather WRIGHTS one that I laced the sideskirts on.

Frame = Columbus SLX Italian threaded CINELLI bottom bracket
Stem and bar = CINELLI Bar = Cinelli Giro d'Italia
Headset - Record (or Super Record)
Bottom bracket = Record (or Super Record)
Chain, crankset and rear derailler and hubs = 9-speed VELOCE
Ergo Levers and fron derailler = 9-speed Mirage
Brake Calipers = Royal Gran Compe
Rims = EVOLUTION
Tires = Vittorio Zaffiro 25mm
Pedals = heavilly reworked Shimano EXAGE = casting lines and anodizing filed off + more rounded contous and then highly polished after LOTS of sanding.

The Miele model with Columbus SLX was called the Suprema. This one appears to be from 1988. The OEM group was Campagnolo C-Record with Delta brakes. The colour scheme is called Neapolitan fantasy. The fork appears to be a replacement.

Very nice Miele Man. I love Miele bicycles. They're local to me, are always well built and sport fantastic paint jobs. I've also noticed even the lower end models tend to have quality Ambrosio wheelsets and sensibly chosen components. I'm not sure if they're popular anywhere else but they are much loved here in Toronto.

That fork does seem a little odd at a glance, but is that the same "Miele" decal on the fork blade as is on the headtube? I traded emails with another poster a while back and our Miele SLX bikes were similiar in many ways and a little different than yours, like on the cable routing. We had both separately arrived at the conclusion that they were probably the "Equipe" model.

During 1986-1990, which was the most popular period for Miele, the Equipe and Equipe Pro were Dura-Ace equipped models with Columbus SL frames. The Equipe did not go SLX until 1991, still with Dura-Ace. Prior to this, the Miele SLX model was the Suprema.

Thanks T-Mar! Awesome info! Is Miele Man's bike made in Canada or imported?

It may have been purchased in 1988 but based on the decals and New 600EX SIS components, it's 1986-1987.

I know this is an ancient thread. But, I worked at the Miele factory and this model came down the line with those forks. There were many models that came down that assembly line that were not recorded in any glossy pamphlet. This is one of those models. We all went nuts for that paint work and I knew the guys in the paint shop - they were real artists when it came to putting Jim's ideas into practice. As this was just so unusual. We had the C-record model come down the line as well as a Dura Ace version - both had either the black Miele decals as well as the white. This came several months after those official models were shipped out. This came down the line and I wanted it so so bad! I am a touring cyclist and the triple cranks and black forks were just so mis-matched. So, yes there was a racing SLX model as T-Mar states, but there was also this "off the record" model as well.

Nice bike.

l have this model. I was wondering if it was all original parts. It has a very long Mavic stem, which I love, but I never put one one these on at the factory (where I worked). Is that a Mavic stem? Mine rides like a dream! Way down here in New Zealand!
