I wish Kenda would make more of their tires available in Mocha-wall. Kinda reminds me of '90s Continentals.

I have these Vittoria tires on my Carbon CX bike, and now I'm inspired to put a set on my Merckx!

Get the Kenda yellow-walls. Perfect for the color scheme.

I had that identical thought.

And a steerer cap.

Makes it more of a belly button ring than a missing tooth.

I have, perhaps, the hottest gumwalls ever produced on my 1989 Technium. They are circa 2000 IRC Paperlite Plus. at 220tpi, coil casing, 130 psi, 23mm width and weighing in at 155g, they are an entirely different breed from earlier, heavier gumwalls, some of which had a wire bead. There are different types in each category, I suppose.

My R3's and my Atom Comps are both yellow, to match my frame. My C&V bike gets gumwalls, of course. My mtb gets straight black tires. I love seeing some color on any bike.

Those look nice. They'd be right at home on my Klein MTB. I personally loved the old Conti mocha-walls and wore out more than my fair share of them throughout the 90s

IMO Colored tires almost never look good. They usually make the bike look cheap, even if it's a nice bike and they are quality tires. Just my opinion.

I usually prefer tan/skinwalls on most bikes, but black sidewalls are also OK sometimes.

I just looked this up on Ebay as a result of reading your post. Found the only one and bought it

I was a huge B&B fan in the mid-90s. Thanks!

Celeste Bianchi with celeste stripe Vittorias. Something about celeste that calls for just a little excess of color.

I was hoping to see a Celeste Bianchi, and that's a very nice one.

Yep, niner. I'm aware of the skinwall Ardents, but I just hate that tire.

DMR Supermoto if you like 26" semislicks. I wish I knew of a nice 26" knobby tan wall. Compass makes some nice skinwall filetread tires for all 3 rim sizes, I think.

Tanwalls are available for fatbikes even:

Personally I love the purple chainring. Just the right amount of colour to spice things up a bit from boring old black an' tan (NTTAWWT)

Blackwalls seemed to have gained popularity on race bikes right about the time when pros like Armstrong started wearing black socks when they raced.
Both blackwalls and black socks looked goofy to me when I saw them in races in the 90's......they still look off putting to me on C&V race bikes to this day.....
Heck, back in the 80's you might be considered a bit strange if you are seen with black socks on a racebike......and maybe a cheapskate too if you have blackwalls tires too on it......

I like your idea. Maybe I'll just paint the Kendas I have now. That seems more appropriate somehow.

I've never heard that onion skins were considered cheap, and black was top o' da line for C&V bikes.

I usually go off of factory specs and original pictures from catalogs should they be available. I prefer tan to black on C&V bikes. That may be though because bikes were sold with steel and then silver alloy rims. Tan walls might look odd on black rims like vintage matrix rims on Treks.

Also, I feel that black wall tires on C&V bikes make them look more like Cyclocross bikes than bike-boom era racing bikes.
