Have You Ordered From A Goodwill That Ships?
I'm wondering if anyone here has won an auction / made a purchase from a Goodwill source that ships. If so what was the experience - packaging - shipping (fulfillment service). Is it worth the risk?

i wouldn't even allow a fedex to pack a bike, much less a goodwill.
maybe they could drop it off at a bike shop, or you can find a facilitator.

I have bought from the online auction site, ShopGoodwill. I have not bought bicycles from the site, though.
The shipping and handling charges may be more than one would expect, so I'd keep them in mind when bidding. The packing hasn't been bad, but I've only bought ridiculously inexpensive items so I wouldn't be out much if there was any problem.

I bought a bike from ShopGoodwill and had a local shipper pick up, pack, and deliver for $100. I probably wouldn't have risked it for a really nice bike. Probably a better idea to find a facilitator here or ask a bike shop in the area.
Luckily the bike got to me in good shape but it was missing one skewer.
You might find that in smaller cities the local shipping service frequently picks up and ships "pick up only" items from the local Goodwill.

I have not bought bikes from ShopGoodwill, but have bought other items. Almost all the bikes I have seen were local pickup only. The packing is hit or miss. My wife bought a bowl that had been stuffed into a box that was barely big enough to fit the bowl, forget any padding. Something got placed on it that cracked the bowl in half from the weight. They did issue a prompt refund, though. Once, I got a camera wrapped in a t-shirt for padding. I have received cameras where the case was just place in the box with no further padding. I also have received things that were wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in a box flied with packing peanuts. You just never know, but if you buy a lot, you learn which ones do a better job.
