Possible 80's Pinarello? Barn find!

Hi guys! My friend found this bike alongside a Union road bike from the same period of time, probably 80's. This one (that has been repainted over the years..) has a Pinarello sticker on it and it says Treviso. However, I am not really sure. ******.com/r/bicycling sent me here, they said you probably knew.
Here is the album, I hope you guys can help me figure out whether if it's a real Pinarello and if it is, what model.

Thanks in advance!

Luke

Can you provide close ups of fork crown and seatlug?

That type of color scheme believe it or not was actually sometimes stock.

The bike is at my friends' house. I will ask him to take pictures of those two parts as soon as he gets home from school tomorrow.

And I had no idea those paintjobs could be stock. Do you happen to have a picture of a stock bike with a paintjob like that? I'm curious.

I actually really like that in some way, but absolutely hate it in another. Did a lot of people have a paintjob like that back then?

Yup, anything goes at that time.....fades, pastels, neon, splatter, net effect....... I think most builders and manufacturers just wanted to try something different from the usual paint schemes of the earlier 80's.
It looked kinda cool to me back then, but not so much these days....

Very nice bike. I'd restore and ride if it fits.

More pics needed. As of now I'd be loathe to make any comments beyond saying so far we have no pics of anything (other than the headtube decal, which would've been a metal badge in the prescribed timeframe) that says Pinarello. Maybe some closeups of the lugs/BB shell/tops of seatstays.

That's funny. I think it looks kinda cool now, but I didn't like it back then.

Initial reaction is that it is not a Pinarello. There is no embossing on the fork crown or stay caps and there are no lug cutouts. The frame appears to be a repaint, possibly with several fitting added. It appears to have Portacatena holes in the rear dropout which would place it circa 1978-1982. This is borderline for internal rear brake cable routing and too early for a front derailleur tab and dual bottle bosses, at least on Pinarello.

The colour scheme, fittings and components are typical of the very late 1980s, but it's hard to imagine leftover Portacaqtena dropouts that late or that anybody would drill for Portacatena at that time. It's also missing the pump peg typical of the very late 1980s. I can't tell for sure but it doesn't appear to have a chain hanger, which also be standard fare in the very late 1980s.

Second thoughts.

The head tube lugs doesn't look Pinarello. A bit too old school and ornamented.

And the lug for the seat post binder bolt doesn't look filled, that's usually a sign for not a top brand/builder. Aat least if it's "modern", from 70s or 80s forwards.

I do not agree with the nay sayer's. We need more pictures. The lower end Pinarello's didn't have all the embossing and identification on the frame that the upper end had. I have one where the only ID is the GP on the FD hanger (brazed on), DO's and the metal badge. The decals were nearly gone but I have pictures of them on the bike before I stripped it.

More pic ad nauseum (154) here

BTW - I don't think mine is a Tre Crime anymore. Still up in the air of which model it is.

I'm with the naysayers, at least pending more and better detail pix...plenty of differences between SJX426's genuine "low-end" Pinarello and the OP's (which I'd say is a very good quality Italian but of another unknown make).

I'd just add that the head badge is crooked.

A 30 year Pinarello that still has a sticker on it? Sounds rather far-fetched.

I tease. I have seen that color scheme somewhere before... possibly on another Pinarello.

Of course I'm not a expert like T-Mar and others, but I'd look at the front/downtube lug. This is a genuine Pinarello:

Even my low-end Cadore has the Pinarello fork crown marking.
Nobody would but a 105 headset on a Treviso.

In this case "Treviso" refers to Pinarello headquarters, not the bike model.

Treviso ALWAYS refers to their hometown, but SOMEtimes is a particular model, too (or at least as so named by the US importer) see this page from the '89 catalog (courtesy Mark Bulgier's site)

Yes, all Pinarellos have decals reading "Pinarello Treviso Italia", but there was also a top end model named Treviso.
