Gitane Nervex Lugs

Hey,
I just bought this Gitane frame with Nervex lugs. I know that it is not the original painting, but can somebody guess, when the frame was build/which type this is? It seems like the original color of the frame is a metallic blue.
Thanks a lot!

Bikes: Current 79 Nishiki Custum Sport, Jeunet 620, notable previous bikes P.K. Ripper loop tail, Kawahara Laser Lite, Paramount Track full chrome, Raliegh Internatioanl, Motobecan Super Mirage. 59 Crown royak 3 speed

Based on the style of Nervex lugs and strait dropouts it's likely early to mid 60's. The fairly relaxed geomtry and lack of braze on mounting points for racks or extras would match the Deluxe. Hers a catalog pic of the 64 model.

Bikes: More than I care to admit

Have you checked over in the Gitaneusa forum?

It's a pretty frame, nice reprint wig lug lining. The lugs look older, the reproduction decals are from the late 70's to early 80's. The stamped dropouts also are a clue, most likely a "sport" model, not a racer. Great for cruising around town on.

Bikes: Waterford 953 RS-22, several Paramounts

Those appear to be Serie Legere Model 45/159 Nervex lugs which were introduced in the mid-1950s.

Guess, guess, guess.... Google is your friend.... A quick search on "gitane nervex lugs" netted pages of results.

BTW, the BF search engine is less than useless. A Google search is the best way to find posts on Bike Forum (GitaneUSA.com too).

Type in Bike Forum and the topic you are looking for and BINGO!

I just wrote a message about this frame in the GitaneUSA.com Vintage Gitane Forum....
