It was a great day
I've been sick all week with something respiratory related so taking it easy. The kids(13 and 11) come to me and say they want to go for a bike ride. I can't turn that down! I have vintage bikes for both but the younger (daughter) has been scared about moving up to a bigger bike. We get out and they take off. I have an awesome red and black 83 Lotus Unique for the son and a sweet ice blue 81 Centurion Mixte for the daughter. I have to walk behind the daughter just like a newbie starting out. She does great until she realizes I'm not holding on, then she gets scared. She starts going fast enough that I am having trouble jogging behind her. She gains some good confidence then calls it a day. It's a good start. Then the son and I take off with me on my 72 Lejeune. We are cruising around the neighborhood getting all kinds of looks and comments about our cool vintage rides. Before we know it we have done 7 or 8 laps on our 1 mile loop. Awesome. Then it is dinner time and we retire. This may be the year the son does a ride longer than the 17 mile event we do in August. The daughter and wife might end up doing the 8 mile version of that same event. If you are wondering what kind of vintage the wife rides, it is a 90/91 Team Miyata.
It was a great day.

That is a great day. I wish my kids loved to ride.

Bikes: A green one, "Ragleigh," or something.
As good as it gets, enjoy it while it lasts.
None of my girls (age 16, 20 and 51) are that interested in riding, but if one of them makes the mistake of asking me what I want for father's day, well, I'll take pics, because it'll be the only time we'll have been all up on two wheels.

That is a great day. You should rent them out so other dads can act as cool.
You and Roger M have the kids on the right track.
Now, when your daughter's in college, and tells some guy her first bike was a Centurion mixte, you may have problems.

Nice! I am still in the lower end (almost 5 year old girl) but she does not share my fascination with bikes... shes happy with the trail-a-bike but not interested in her own bike at all. even though its all pretty with tassels and frozen graphics.

Very cool! I love seeing families out riding together!
Im hoping my 4yr old son will still love riding with his mommy when hes older lol I have him half a week each week and we ride every single day for 2-3 hours, if its not raining. I took him with me to get my recently purchased (and first) road bike, and now he wants to trade his dinosaur bike in for a road bike!
