Bottom Bracket Issue
Hi everyone my 80's road bikes bottom bracket has developed some sort of issue.
It has developed up/down movement (not inward/outward).
I immediately thought something was loose or the bearings were shot.
I replaced the bearings with new ones BUT the issue is still there!
Everything is tighten properly so I'm not sure what is wrong.
It rode fine until this issue escalated in less than 50 miles.
Any ideas?

are you saying the spindle has vertical movement of your old cup and cone bottom bracket?
and the fixed cup is tight?
and the adjustable cup is properly adjusted?
and the lock ring is secured tightly?
and the spindle has inappropriate movement without the cranks mounted?
or does the problem only occur after riding the bike with the cranks mounted?

The adjustable cup needed to be adjusted properly. At least I've learnt something new.
