I have trouble snaking a shifter cable into a Cyclone RD. But that's just me.

Had some spare time while I wait for a part for a different project and started the tear down of the 1987 Cresta Gt

Rolf Vector Pros....

With DTSwiss HuGI hubs.

As I coasted, I was getting chain slap as the freehub would rock back and forth; so bad I was spinning on downhills.

After calming my nerves (rear assemblies are still on eBag) I took it apart, actually found a piece of grass or something in there. Cleaned it, and though it is louder it is once again smooth.

Still had some time, so I added taillight mounts to my helmets.

Swapped out the bars on three bike from 44 to 42. Also swapped stems on 2 of the bikes. Had to rewrap the bars on all three. Still freezing out, so no big deal.

I just saw a hilarious video of a woman making soup. She had a ladle of the soup in her right hand and was pouring salt into the pot with her left hand. Each time she tasted from the ladle, she added soup to the pot, but she didn't re-dip the ladle, and the taste wasn't improving, so she kept adding salt and re-tasting.

Thankyou. I really like both. But the Fuji is a little on the high side for me. May have to reluctantly move it along.

the last bike I did much work on is this Univega 3 speed that I converted to a 5 speed. What I am spending most of my time and energy on is the building of an instalation for the 2018 Burning Man festival. It is called Worm watch and consists of a 6 sided 16 ft tower with stairs and landings surrounding it and a 50 ft long 7ft diameter(maybe) worm with peristaltic motion that surrounds the tower.

After we build it and display it during Burn week we are going to burn it including fireworks.
At least that is the plan. This is my first year with this crew and I am focusing on building the stairs which are the most complicated I have ever built.

Can I have that saddle, if you're just gonna burn it? 😲
For "wrenching" on things, I recently mounted an XTR left brifter and LX 7-speed righty, but the LX needs a lot of help. 😯
Today, I mounted a Ritchey 700c x38c knobby on the back of my Cannondale ST600. Didn't really need a knobby, but it was nearly free, and I had to see if it'd fit. 😁
Not only does it fit, but it might take a 42c or wider, especially if I skip the knobs next time. 😉 And it rides great. 😎

No photos but did a tire replacement on my 93 Trek 950 mtb and cleaned all the dried mud off of it. Found some WTB Velociraptor tires at Performance on sale and liked the tread pattern. Can't wait to take it out later this week and see how they ride.

Just started my second overhaul ever on this 1985 Miyata 310. It's unfortunately a 58 and I'm more suited for a 56 but I'll figure it out.

After my first one I swore I'd never work on another bicycle until I had a stand. I ended up finding this like new PCS-10 locally for $100!

I'll be doing some work on my McLean soon. I took a 65 mile ride on it on Sunday. I got knee pain, and I don't normally get that riding. I'm blaming the 175mm cranks as incompatible with my short legs. I'll see if I have shorter cranks I can put on, and if not, I'll buy some.

And now that my replacement Lemond frameset has proven to fit well, I can begin the rebuild of my Super Course into a gravel bike with 3x8 brifter drivetrain. I'm really excited about that. It will have 37mm tires.

Just finished cleaning, truing, bearings clean and lube, new rim strip and tires on these Campagnolo 27" wheels for the Holdsworth Project. Hope to get the headset and fork installed today. It appears these are the wheels supplied to the original purchaser. Dated 72.

Thanks Tom! I retired from my "real job" (Electrical, Control &IT) in industry 13 years ago and now take these bike building projects as a source of pride and accomplishment as well as the riding and preservation of said bikes.
Regards, George.

I finally finished overhauling that Deore hub. I bought the cones over a year ago. I bought the bike, untried, from a 'bike in every port' guy, who had left it in my friend's garage. I wanted the wheels--a Sun CR18 and a Ritchie, 26". The headset was dust, the cartridge bb fell apart in my hands, the cones in the front hub were toast. The seat post and stem came right out though. And then today, I couldn't get one of the cones or locknut off the axle, and so had to dive into the axle box. I'm gonna put that front wheel on this.

With a 27" knobby on the back.
Soon.

Finally getting a day to spend off the bike and decided to do some spray work. Prep has all been done. A backyard shoot with spray cans.

It's also less windy and pleasantly in the low 70's while I worked on this 91 Bianchi Eros model. Came frame only and trashed original paint. For now I worked the hard to reach areas only with multiple passes over those areas to insure full coverage. Full tube sprays latter. Pics to come as I make further progress.

Been working on the Botecchia. On the last ride, the RD was slightly hitting the spokes when in the largest sprocket. Decided to add spacers between the freewheel and the hub. Finally removed the freewheel after removing the first three sprockets. It is a Regina. Tried to remove the race of the hub without success so washed with WD-40 until clean then oiled. Would like to disassemble the hub but will wait. Cleaned and lubed the hub bearings (Campagnolo Tipo, 1972). cleaned the freewheel sprockets. Replaced the chain. Made adjustments based on new location of freewheel.

All is good so far!

Removed the rest of the HB tape on the Pinarello. Trying to decide if I should try converting it to Campagnolo drive train. I don't have all the parts so it would be a mix of DA and Chorus.
