Too bad about the fit because that was a sweet looking bike. I like the Voyageurs a lot. I see a fair amount on CL in general so if that's what your heart is set on you'll find one.

Thanks for the offer. I would love to buy a bike from you but just not right now. Kinda want to take a break and reevaluate things. But thank you.

Not sure why but it was too small, which is unfortunate because I know there are others that are 5'6" can ride 53 cm bikes. Oh well. Now I know!
Ah sorry to hear especially since I (~5'9") ride the same size Voyageur by the looks of yours. Schwinn rated their frames in inches then, I assume yours is the 21" frame. You must really be out of the usual proportions, and maybe I am in the opposite direction (shorter legs, longer torso). The V'gers do have shorter than usual top tubes, so that might have something to do with it, but I like the more upright position it puts me in for longer days of cycling. I don't imagine you tried a longer stem to increase the reach?

Yeah it was the 21 inch size. I tried a 110 mm stem and a selle anatomica saddle pushed all the way back. I definitely felt cramped and like the top tube was short. It was an uncomfortable feeling after a few miles. Finally got tired of fiddling with it and just admitted to myself that it was too small. I don't know whether I have long legs and monkey arms, or what. :-) Cycling inseam is 31.5 inches. I suppose I could have tried a 120mm stem but it didn't feel like a small increase in reach would be enough.

Well you did the right thing, if it doesn't fit the way you want and not comfortable you have to move on. It goes to show how different people can be both in fit preference and also how much proportions can vary regardless of height.

I don't seem to be very particular on fit - some really are sensitive. I have 21, 22, and 23 inch frames, varying amounts of reach, and can ride them all just fine. I've never measured my cycling inseam or been 'fit', everything just seems to work fine.

Good luck if you're searching for a replacement, or just continue to use your mixte, miss mixte.

Thanks!!
I think I'm finicky about fit. O joy.
Yeah I would like to replace my faux vintage mixte eventually with a real vintage bike but for now it continues to get me where I'm going, slowly yet dependably.
