Interesting zombie thread, worth bringing back, missed it first time around, but didn’t have an 85 ride back then, however, now I do!

If I am reading the Asian Serial Number Guide correctly, then my Nashbar Road Mk II qualifies. The serial starts with DQ, which puts the build date in August 1984 for the 1985 Spring catalog.
I found it in completely original condition last spring, looking like it had been ridden for the 1985 triathlon season and then hung up in the garage for the next 39 years. It was covered with a lot of dust, mainly concentrated on the undersides of the seat and frame. Everything cleaned up well and the Flamboyant Red paint really sparkles in the sun. The hoods were still supple and the bar tape was in good condition, so I just removed the stem and bars as a unit and kept them together in case I want to return them later. I soldered the broken wire on the Cateye computer and got it working, but I'm not sure I want to put it back on this bike. I prefer the Garmin Edge that I can move from bike to bike. The saddle is also a Nashbar unit that I bought around 10 years ago. It is like a poor man's C17.

Contemplating restoring this one to its 1985 Biopace/6207 glory as pictured and before I messed with it by adding a smooth Nitto post, 6500 DP brakes, SLR aero levers, shorter cranks with round rings, and a ST Sprint rear derailleur. There was not a single thing wrong with it before.

1985 bikes were pretty special - here's my P10M Premiére and a friend's RRS. I've owned the Peugeot from new, and my friend bought the Raleigh from me.
