talk me down from the ledge gents

Since the separation from my wife a couple of months ago ---- I would say my weakness for a sexy redhead is now at an all time low --- I've been C&V'ing at a reckless pace since then with more modest projects and strip n flip endeavors

To me this is drool inducing , but I need clearer heads to point out the flaws

I think this may be the wrong group to ask for intervention.
The paint looks really tough if not impossible to touch up
Synchro levers are ugly
The rim anodizing is worn through
She's Italian, all Campy really nice gruppo, you can still buy that Ambrosio tape NOS - oops, going the wrong way now...

Might as well face it...your addicted to bikes! The first step is to admit you are powerless over old bikes - that your life has become unmanageable (parts soaking in degreaser in the kitchen sink, bikes and bike parts stashed everywhere....). You then need to "stay clean". Avoid looking in dumpsters, "cruising" on bulk pickup day, "hitting" garage sales, and "checking out" craigslist. Make friends who can help you through "rough patches". It' a lifelong battle that many of us lose. I myself, brother, relapsed into my old ways after staying "clean" for a "long stretch". I think watching Breaking Away triggered me off this time. "Just one more, I can handle it" I fool myself into believing. I hope you find the inner strength you seek. May the force be with you.

We wouldn't do this, it's simply what we're advising you to do.

The good news here is that you've crossed the line where you'd consider spending $2k on the DeRosa, so pass on this one and hold out for one for about $1300 which will leave some left over for a nice high end frame!

Whew - i made it through the night without clicking BIN!

Your right, that bike is from my personal favored era, (C-Record through 8 speed brifter era) - but Chorus is not C Record,

I'll keep looking - with some paint chips and worn rims, the guy is a bit high on that one (possibly a lot high)

But there are 3 bikes that make me think irrationally in general

Red DeRosa's. - id love to find the issue of Road Bike action from 1993 with the guy jumping a DeRosa over some RR tracks

Red Masi's (thx to Breaking Away)

Mapei edition Colnago's

Normally I would be yelling "Jump! Jump!", but I think that example is significantly overpriced and you can do better.

Well it is cheaper than most red convertibles or redheads of the female persuasion.

The greatest cause of divorce is marriage. Being unmarried for more than ten years, I can indulge in any CV I want to.

Bikes: Yes

Could be doing a lot worse things than bikes. But I would probably hold off on that one unless it's something you have had on your list for some time.

If you want a certain DeRosa you have lots of eyes and ears (enablers.haha) around here that will scout for ya.

Hey now ! - I'm 5'8 and a half ! That's only 1/2" lower than the 5'9 national average (LOL - if anyone is throwing the 1/2 or 3/4 in after their height, then yes, that means they are short ---- but not quite a little garden elf living under a bridge )

Yes - I agree after looking at it a couple more times --- one will come along --- the seller seems to be liquidating a quite nice collection - a lot of which are in the same size range , 53-55 , so perhaps someone passed away or something -- who knows

Funny you mentioned convertibles - I just turned 45 and i'm also looking at a lot of different cars I never would have looked twice at -- was asking #oddjob2 about Z4 roadsters in another thread and I've been looking at Boxsters ---- In the meantime , I took the top off my old Jeep and have been cruising in that crankin' Whitesnake and Deep Purple to get my convertible fix
I have my eyes wide open and can see the "mid life crisis" thing starting up ---- funny thing is, - i'm not gonna fight it

all along I meant an Italian "redhead" of the 2 wheeled persuasion, - not the hot, crazy 2 legged kind - but who knows , if a Julianne Moore look alike makes herself available, i'll take her for a ride in the Jeep

True. True.

This is a bar for drinkers, not quitters. AA is down the street in the church basement.

OP: Admit it; this was one of those cry-for-help threats to jump, right?

Bikes: Bikes??? Thought this was social media?!?

If you would like a black seatpost with DeRosa on it, from my mid-80s SLX, PM me. I like Campy aero posts.

I am assuming of course it's yours. Not just the red frame, but the chrome fork.
In a 60cm, it's a wonderful rider with that stage-race geometry.

Bikes: One of everything and three of everything French

Talk you down huh? How's this? Your going to have to pass because the stem clashes horribly with the rest of the bike.
