frankenstein bottom bracket, '92 paramount.
hi, I have a approx 1992 paramount series 5, craigslist bike. The bottom bracket is made up of off-brand but quality looking japanese made left & right cup, and a campagnolo 112mm spindle marked 68-ss-120.
It looks like the chainline is good, pedal clearance is good, no probs. Crank arms look like they go on a bit too far onto the spindle. That looks like a JIT crank arm on a ISO spindle problem.
Ok, so if I want to replace the BB with a Shimano cartridge, I think the choice is either a 110mm or a 113mm spindle length. If the crank won't press on the taper as far on the new Shimano JIT spindle as it did on the old campy spindle, then I think the 110mm would be the one to get.
Is my logic OK, or scrambled and flawed as usual.
Thanks in advance!
