Thanks. It only took 20 years to build. It's been worth the wait.

This is as close as I get to white.

Random photos but Raleigh and Dawes and Falcon use to make "Milk Race" bikes, the Milk Race is now the Tour of Britain. These bike replicas were usually white; I think they must have been like the TI Raleighs and the frames were probably hi-ten but painted to simulate the race bikes. They'd be quite a novelty to own but show up in the UK with regularity. (Random image, I wish I could reduce)

A lot of Peugeots and of course, the Raleigh Grand Prixs were white; but I don't think that detracts from the "ghost bike" idea because those bikes, Raleighs and Peugeots must have pre-dated the ghost bikes.

A number of whitish bikes back then like this Viscount;

It is common in Santa Cruz. Far too common. I ride by (or drive by) one in particular several times per day.

This bike gets a good chunk of miles every year.

Ugh. Horrible wording on my part. I didn't mean to say I don't expect ghost to exist elsewhere. I meant to say that I wouldn't be surprised if they are not ubiquitous.

I've had this Univega for a while, but couldn't get comfortable with the upright bars, so I put drops and an adjustable stem on it. Once I had the bars right, I replaced the adjustable stem with a Kalloy riser.

All the bikes look nice; I certainly like it when a bike looks like its ridden. The used look gives it a special aesthetic. Patina?

I make off with our son's Della Santa occasionally.

Great bike. Wish I was as fast as my kid.

Well if you like white, then you should consider moving to Sweden. The land where white interior is mandatory:

Lots of ghost bikes around here, probably owing to the fact that our surface streets are built like highways -- two or three lanes in each direction, plus turn lanes both left and right.

As to the "white bike/ghost bike" association, I don't really see it unless the bike is - as some have mentioned - absolutely completely 100% white. And riding something like that is akin to aiming a middle finger at fate and/or the bicycle gods... not superstitious or anything, but no thanks. ;)

That Colnago.....mmmmmmm

I like white bikes, too. In my case, ivory white. 1984 Schwinn Super Sport with 10s DT-shifting DA. Suntour Superbe Pro levers and calipers. Saddle was changed to a B17 shortly after this ride. Killer looking bike...now awaiting Campy components as I transferred the drivetrain components and brakes to my Raleigh, which was a good move. I think the Campy bits will also be a good move. Can't wait to build it!
