Jenson deals Clipless pedals

Jenson has the SPD A520 pedals on sale for $20, reg $70.
Shimano PD-A520 Pedals > Components > Pedals > Road Pedals | Jenson USA

Also Sora 9 speed brifters for a cheap STI upgrade - $60.
Shimano ST3500 9 Speed Lever Set No PCKG > Components > Drivetrain > Shifters | Jenson USA

jeirvine 12-11-16 12:30 PM

Wow, thanks. Those pedals are my fave. SPD convenience, but look good on a vintage steel bike.

Slash5 12-11-16 01:05 PM

I prefer double sided but you're right, they look good on a road bike. I ordered 4 sets, plus the shifters, the Jensonusa Bench/Wall Mount Repair Stand and the Shimano Fd3500 Front Derailleur No Pckg.

Some other great deals.

ascherer 12-11-16 06:19 PM

Thanks for the tip, snagged a pair along with a different set for my wife's build.

ARe the single side SPD's awkward for you guys' and gals at all?

I use the system on quite a few bikes (re-purposed double sided MTB spd's that is) , ---- I'm tempted to order a small batch of these to put on anything that doesn't have pedals --- may be the excuse I need to ride them more

Slash5 12-11-16 08:40 PM

I'll have to admit that the single sided, when you are used to double sided, are a pain. All a matter of practice.

I've recently been using single-sided SPDs on one bike after years of double sided. It takes a tiny bit of extra thought, about as much as when I go back to cages. I think with a bit of practice I'd be clipping into the single-sided pedals without a glance, but haven't practiced it much, so I still look. If it was a commuter bike or a bike where I had to stop with any frequency, I'd probably stick with the double-sided. They're just so easy.

They're weighted so they always hang just right for easy entry. A520s are my personal favorite. I've got them on three bikes.

Thanks for the hot tip Slash5 - great deal! I ordered a spare pair.

DMC707 12-11-16 11:35 PM

thanks again gents -- i will order with confidence

Primitive Don 12-12-16 04:09 AM

Good price on the brifters!

The Golden Boy 12-12-16 07:15 AM

I'm looking out for the King Cage toe clip cages to go on sale again!

Although there's nothing wrong with the MKS cage clips, I got spoiled with them.

Great deal on those SPDs. I have a set on a road bike and love em. Really easy to clip into, even though its only 1 side.
Its be a screamin deal if the cleats which are pictured came with!

The deal includes the cleats. I just received a shipment of two sets of PD-A520 from Jenson, the set arrived in the retail package complete with cleats and screws. Order $50 and shipping is free.

wat!

I didnt see the cleats included in the writeup of the product and for $20 I figured Jenson was giving a good deal but doing their(or online retailers in general) thing of slightly misrepresenting whats included out of deception or incompetence. For example, the Sora STIs linked in this thread have a picture of a Sora Triple STI, but whats being sold is a set of Sora Double STIs.

Anyways, thanks for clarifying. This is an absolute steal now!

That is a smoking deal on the brifters..!

speedy25 12-12-16 11:40 AM

Jenson has lots of great deals. Its just hard to find what you really want with soooooo much stuff they have!

Nashbar is another one with deals worth looking at.

I brain fogged and didn't order any until last night, but I also ordered 4 pairs ---- just got a email about noon today that they had shipped

I know some have had poor experiences with this company, but I have to admit, -- my orders with them have gone off without a hitch for the most part - to include a complete MTB build kit from them last year

ascherer 12-20-16 08:21 PM

Mine arrived yesterday, and they're nicer than I thought. I put them on my '71 International and they blend nicely. First SPDs I've owned.

Slash5 12-20-16 09:05 PM

Pedals are a dollar cheaper now - $18.99

tricky 12-20-16 09:38 PM

8 spd barend shifters for $54 if you want to stick with a classic look! Shimano SL-BS64 8SPD Barend Shifters > Components > Drivetrain > Road Shifters | Jenson USA

Myself I am trying to not order this $8 SLX shifter and do a 1x10 setup on my mtb. If anyone in Seattle is ordering >$50, lemme know! I'd rather buy you a beer for the hookup instead of paying shipping on an $8 item. :) Shimano SL-M670 Shifter > Components > Drivetrain > Shifters | Jenson USA

Falcon3 12-21-16 11:59 AM

Ordered a set of SPD and a Soma Hwy 1 bar. There's a $5 coupon out there if you search as well. Thanks for the heads up

SuperLJ 12-21-16 01:20 PM

If the big 'SHIMANO' logo on the side of the A520 pedals offends you, it's real easy to polish off. That's what I do anyway.

What's the advantage to this design? Commuter pedals have SPD on one side and usually some kind of rattrap design on the other side so you can ride with regular shoes. You can't use the other side of this pedal, so how is it any better than the kind with SPD on both sides?

These are significantly lighter and the thin design provides better ground clearance, especially while pedaling and cornering.

I'd prefer double sided - but for $20 each these will do - about half the price of the usual ones I buy - and they usually cost $20 more than my usual M530 pedals. And they do look "right" on a race type bike.
