Anachronistic Paramount
Hello All:
Here are a few pics of my completely anachronistic Schwinn Paramount. 60th anniversary Match-built frame. 1984 Waterford Paramount fork. Mostly 1999 Campy record drive train except for the 7400 cranks (165mm) and seat post. Chrome stem was built for another bike by Dan Wynn in Seattle. 28mm tires. Prismatic Illusion Copper powdercoat. Velocals for a 1972 Paramount. Probably should have waited for a day with brighter sun to pop the finish but here it is.
Cheers,
Jim

Very nice. That stem is an elegant way to get the bars high. Do you think you'll keep the shimano and campagnolo mix long term or swap some parts out?

I am digging everything about this bike but the saddle. But that is just me.

That stem is a little work of art unto itself. With that angle I'd have to slam it, though,
Lovely bicycle

I have gone down this rabbit hole too (looking for mythical 165 Campy cranksets) --- I finally gave up and just built a different frameset with all shimano to get my 165 legspeed training fix in

Saddle = SMP.
I ride one on a newish bike. Different, but works for me. Fully split down middle, allows for rotating hips and lower position.

Thanks. I can totally relate to thinking that saddle would be awful. But I happened to try one and man oh man does it work for my anatomy. NO numbness and no monkey butt since I started riding it.

Gorgeous red! I like how you weren't afraid to execute a Paramount in a non-traditional manner (Painting over the chrome Nervex lugs? Newer fork? . The result is very good, and everything ties together nicely. It looks like a factory re-issue + modernization that companies do--all the lugged beauty and new paint (or PC), with all the modern fast and convenient bits. Gives me more confidence in my restorative efforts on my Paramount, which will not be traditional. I like the all-black tires, personally. Beautiful bike--enjoy it!

Beautiful work, it's a head turner for sure. Life is a lot more interesting in that we all don't like the same things. For me the only thing I would be looking at is the stem. Reminds me of the Cinelli Pinocchio for some reason. I would swap put a Nitto Technomic to get the height and see how it looked.

That is indeed a stunner. I am very partial to those 1960s - early 1970s Paramount decals, and of course I am highly biased in favor of red bicycles.

I was a kid working in a Schwinn shop in 1975. I ordered a Paramount Track bike. I was so crestfallen about the new decals I immediately took them off the first day. I still have the bike....with just the world's stripes head badge, and Reynolds decal.
the decals you applied must be the most iconic decals on any bike...I love them!

Thanks! My first 10sp was Varsity and I actually toyed with the idea of putting Varsity decals on it. Equally iconic in my mind:
Would have been fun to see how many passing riders got the joke.
