...mostly, I tend to agree with Frank Berto on this stuff, with a few notable exceptions.

This has turned into a treasure trove of a thread.
More catalogues at
Catalogues & Manuals - Three Speed Hub

The Brown Brothers 1939 and 1952 catalogues are wonderful

look through the other albums there as well.

Speedplay's pedal museum is very helpful
SPEEDPLAY : HIGH PERFORMANCE PEDALS

and the general albums are regularly accessed.

and another Flickr group to spend some time in
https://www.flickr.com/groups/654935@N22/pool/

and Mark Stevens bike albums are also worth looking through

If you join the V-CC
https://www.v-cc.org.uk/
you get access to the back issues of the members only publications, News and Views and The Boneshaker. There are excellent articles there.

You will soon form your own opinions on what you like from the period, then wait for them to appear.

Bikes: Mercian King of Mercia (1983), Balance XR-550 (1993), Surly Cross Check, 1948 Condor British steel lightweight.

Some great resources here which I have been working my way through.... The quality of manufacturing is something to behold. If personally wish I could buy many of these parts today, made in same way of same materials rather than the alloy 'vintage' replicas made in Japan or China.
