Sometimes Ebay delivers - Galmozzi
Ebay has its perils but I have found some great bikes at fair to great prices. I have had two special bikes damaged in shipping recently which was very disheartening. They'll be repaired and pictures will follow. So it was with some concern that I waited for this bike. It arrived perfectly packed and is even better than I hoped. I believe this to be an original 1972 Galmozzi. It is supposedly a single owner bike bought in Chicago and then ridden for a season or two in California and then stored. I think that is believable. It has some signs of being ridden but either the hoods, chain, chainrings and freewheel have been replaced I don't think it has many miles. One surprise was the near perfect Ideal 90 Rebour saddle. There were no clear pictures in the listing, the saddle was listed as Ideale but I am no Ideale expert and didn't recognize what it was. Very nice. More pictures added as cleanup progresses.

Great score.
What's the best way to Date a Galmozzi? Can you post some pics of the Lugs? And if possible the Frame vent holes. Definitely a #1 Grail Bike. |
Wow, that is gorgeous! Congrats!

It was listed as a 56cm but is actually a square 57cm ctc.
Anyway, have great fun with the new baby! |
Wow, that's in remarkable condition. Just beautiful. I checked out the eBay photos -- it looked like the paint was a dull orange, instead of the nice red of your photos. Well done!

This bike matches very closely with this 70s Galmozzi on CR Galmozzi Jim Bolivar but is clearly earlier than this 80s galmozzi on CR Galmozzi 1983 bike https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/730/33...2e7f65b7_b.jpg3-20170309_185133 by Jim Nusbaum, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3902/3...8ecd0a41_b.jpg2-20170309_184812 by Jim Nusbaum, on Flickr https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/654/33...a4f3e80f_b.jpg1-20170309_184803 by Jim Nusbaum, on Flickr |
