Identify Reynolds 753 Fork?
 

Any idea what this is from?

I can't say for sure but it looks like a late offering from Raleigh (Road Ace maybe?) in my memory serves me right.

Agreed. Probably a Raleigh USA fork from late 80s.

As collector, the back story may be important.

But as a rider, that's a nice fork that anybody should be happy to own.

I don't know but is it the start of something new?
It would be a nice fork to go steel on this titanium over that ugly crabon/aluminium

I bought one of these on ebay in the summer except it does not have the triangular decal or the cutout on the outer side of the crown. Mine is metallic white and like the one sold on bikerecyclery. http://***********************/vintage...hreaded-white/ I believe the 31mm rake spec in the ad is supposed to be 41mm.
The seller says mine was from a Raleigh Techium, which makes sense since those bonded frames fell apart leaving these white brazed forks on the market.
I was considering getting a custom Kaisei fork built but the expense and especially the wide fork crowns made for those blades I find ugly.
Anyone got more info on the these 753 forks?

as I understand things the 753 forkblades were similar to regular 531 in that they are "taper gauge" but said to be thinner walls and because 753 is heat treated they come pre-raked from Reynolds and cannot (or SHOULD not) be re-set. That forkcrown is very common but not sure of the brand (Cinelli, anybody?), I was just looking at a FUSO fork, yesterday, that used the same crown.

How about this? Is Raleigh the only one to glue 753 together

You may be thinking of the bonded Alan and Vitus frames falling apart. I sold those Technium bonded bikes in a bike shop throughout the period that Raleigh USA was marketing them, and we never saw any failures. After all, Raleigh USA did establish the Technium factory in Kent, WA, expressly to make it easy to hire Boeing engineers with aerospace design experience.

Not saying that it never happened, but while I've read vague off-hand mentions of Technium frames falling apart over the years, I haven't seen any photos or read any first-hand testimonials of such failures.

Fork end and front hub
The fork ends look the same as my 82 Falcon 753. But, it could be standard issue. But the fork crown looks like the Raleigh in the earlier picture.

I saw several Techinum 753 frames that the rings around the joints were broken. Only bought mine after making sure it did not have any broken. Maybe the ones on ebay are the broken ones and the good ones are still out there.

The fork does look like a match.

As I recall, the rings were merely cosmetic and served only to cover the join line. The people who have posted here about damaged Technium bikes crashed them or drove into a garage with the bike on a roof rack. Bent frame tubes, but intact bonded joints.

Everest, Silva, Cinelli, and probably others made crowns of that style.
