Another frame to ID
Interesting frame. Long serial number and stamped dropouts, but cool fork crown and other lugs.
Internal cable routing is interesting. I'll try to get a drive-side pic. Any ideas? Serial: 1664448 http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/...psxjq14oa7.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/...psucda2aqi.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8oyuuwoi.jpg http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/...psdpydx1hl.jpg |
Another cool Austrian Bergmeister I bet!

If anyone local (San Francisco) is interested in the frame, fork, headset, crank, seatpost, I'll trade it all for a rear Record skewer or something similar. |
Those are so cool! Too bad I on the other side. Any idea what the original colour might be?

I did not realize you had a community bike center...is it the Changing Gears shop in Alameda by any chance?
no mine is very small out the back of our woodshop on campus at the university of san francisco. Any overflow I usually bring to changing gears actually- I can only handle 6-10 bikes at a time. |

That is quite an eclectic mix of bits Herr Bergie displays. Maeda cable guide. Yoshi cable guide. Sakae Ringyo Apex chainset. Arnie & Co seat binder. Tullo pump holder. Tullio mozzi. Ambrosio potenza regolabile. Freres Huret chainstay stop. One can only wonder what else was on there when last he was fully attired. ----- |

I'm trying to get an idea what it's worth so I can trade it. (See appraisels forum for more pics). Edit: Ah, yes thanks: https://www.flickr.com/photos/speedp...ls/11521246266 |

I agree, it's world weary. I bought it for the Campy large flange hubs but was suprised by the eclectic mixe of parts. It also came with Suntour barcons, Suntour V luxe RD, an ancient but tanklike Shimano FD with holes which I can't ID (Disraeli gears is mostly RDs), and anframe pump marked "Spain". One QR is MM Atom. Retina Oro sprocket and Wolber rims.

Swissed front mech may be some manner of Thunderbird. You may be able to find it by searching on that name.

I have no need for any of it, but I might have a Campy skewer: do you want Nuovo Record (for 120-126 spacing) or something newer?
http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/...pswbbcc9az.jpg Ideally I'd have a matched set of Record or NR skewers but on the bike I'm building they don't have to be perfect or correct. I'd like them to match, however. |

Good front DR. An early 70's one from Shimano. Pared up with the rear Titlist or even the Crane.

I will look thru my Campy skewer stash in the next day or two and get back to you. Good chance I have something that matches this front...depending on the year it could be that this is a later version due to the curved lever but the period correct nut for an earlier skewer...I'm not an expert either but will consult the catalogs...

I'm not especially Campy literate, but I do want the type for 120/126 spacing. This is the one that is on the front but I'm not sure it is correct for the large flange hub it came on, or even correct for itself. The nut says Brev but the lever is curved and says patent. I don't know if that means it's a mismatch:

Here's the derailleur. Script might say "Titlist" but that's just a guess:

Huh! Well USF is a lot closer to me than Alameda, so if you get to where you're taking in some more donations send out a PSA and I'll make you my first stop!

Ha! Well, that might be overstating things a bit but yes, I do like it. Works well (the 14T capacity stated on Velobase seems very conservative to me), well-built and looks good. What more does one want?

artclone, I found what appears to be a matching rear skewer, actually found 2 with slightly different details, but one will match.
I'll PM you. |

Great to know. I have been in the process of changing my Rapidix over to Shimano and using that very group for it. I have always like how it behaves on other builds.

Regarding the "Spain" marked frame pump. Two brands of these I can recall are HETA & Nagusi. The latter being a product line from the former. Here is a catalogue illustration of HETA models from a 1982 publication and a 1984 one showing the offerings under the Nagusi name. Most of the fittings which came with your Bergie look to hail from the early 1970's and some of the pump models seen here are a decade or more later. One model which would be more contemporaneous with the other components is the HETA Ref. 50821. It looks to be a copy of a REG design. There are earlier models of HETA pumps which are of a non-framefit design. Will post images as found. http://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g...serialNumber=4 http://www.velo-pages.com/main.php?g...serialNumber=2 ----- |

Found some images of a pre-framefit model. The dark red example was posted by our very own guygadois. Handle on these has a rubbery plug at its centre which can be removed for spare spoke storage. HETA is the maker of frame pumps marked ZEUS. Frame pump connoisseurs will recognise a close resemblance to one of the REG models... http://philcushway.weebly.com/upload...1422379543.png http://philcushway.weebly.com/upload...766527.jpg?465 http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7222/7...4740e847_b.jpg ----- |
Yep. Spot on as usual. This came with the bike. The chromed ends and tube are plastic. I like the wavy shape to the chrome parts. Have to check for the spoke storage - - neat!
Here it is: http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/...psej8bk4sb.jpg

Is there an actual Eibar company? Always thought it only the name of the city and when some cyclists saw it on products they thought it a manufacturer. Maybe I'll get to learn something... ----- |
You know, it's been common knowledge the Eibar made Servettas for some time. But you know how reliable common knowledge is . . . So I did some digging. I found several places where the scooter enthusist sites talk about Eibar as a company:
http://i1281.photobucket.com/albums/...pst1hiqta0.jpg But I suspect that this just got lazily passed down by people like me and that Eibar is simply a large factory town. I see no evidence of a company called Eibar. Removing "tidbit" from above post until I see actual evidence. ---- Quoting juvela "Is there an actual Eibar company?
